Introduction (same as episode 1)

A young woman is confidently walking through a busy street in Melbourne, Australia - smiling as she walks. The picture freezes and a prison gate slams over the image. We see two mugshots of the character.

A pretty blonde girl steps off a bus looking excited about something. She pauses on the bottom step, looks around and the picture freezes as before with the prison gate slamming shut over the screen...

A middle-aged housewife is outside hanging up her washing. Again, the picture freezes and the gate slams shut...

Episode Details

Bea explains to Lyn during her night-time visit to her cell that Lyn must tell the officers that the burn on her hand was an accident and that Bea had nothing to do with it. She is being released so this would jeopordise her walking free. She leaves Lyn to sleep on it. The officer escorts Bea back to her cell as Lynn lies crying in her bed.

The morning bell rings at 6.30am and Karen Travers is awoken by Vera Bennett who tells her that she has to be ready for muster at 7.00am. Vera wakes the rest of the inmates up. Doreen tells her to shut up, and then to drop dead.

Bea is waiting outside of Lyn's cell and makes a point of reminding her not to say anything about her burnt hand.

Franky is sleeping in solitary. Vera wakes her up and taunts her about Bea leaving. She makes Franky think that Bea is going but that Franky has too bad a temper to take over as Top Dog.

Meg is having breakfast at home with her husband Bill. He tells Meg that she should give up her job at the prison. Meg is not interested and says that she can't leave because her job is her life. She goes to wake up her son, Marty, but there is no sign of him.

Mum talks to Lyn in her cell and sets her straight about the way the prison is run, by the Top Dog.

Meg and Bob are about to leave for work as Marty comes home. He says that he has slept at his mates house and he didn't tell them because he was embarrassed to phone them in front of his friends. Marty tells them that he's done nothing wrong. Meg says that they will talk about it later. They leave for work.

Lyn is questioned by Mrs Davidson about the 'accident'. Lyn tells Mrs Davidson that it had nothing to do with Bea.

Mum, who is being released today, talks to Mrs Davidson about her release. She tells her that she's staying with her daughter and that she'll miss everyone at the prison. Mum and Bea will be having a farewell party before they go.

Bea is getting ready to leave, she's dressed in her civilian clothing. She warns Doreen that Franky will try and take over when Bea goes, and for Doreen not to side with her. Bea says that Franky won't last long because someone else will take over, but it's all a big surprise.

The women are having their farewell party in the Recreation Room. Mrs Davidson makes a speech and wishes them both well in their new lives. All of the women have made cards and bought presents. Bea is making a speech when Franky walks in. She makes a joke about Franky smashing the furniture. Mum makes an emotional speech to the women and is presented with what looks like a rug which all of the women have helped to make.

Officer Yates sneaks Marilyn into the Governor's office to make a phonecall while nobody is looking. She phones the electrician, Eddie. She asks him if he can give Bea a lift into town as a surprise from the girls, when she leaves the front gate. He agrees and tells Marilyn to 'fix the wiring' so he can visit her again.

Mum comes outside to have a last look around the garden. Lyn says that she will look after the garden for Mum.

Heavily pregnant prisoner, Rosie, comes to see the Doctor. She tells Mrs Jackson that she doesn't want her baby to be born in a prison. Meg tells Rosie that she was born in a prison. Rosie doesn't believe her.

Bill Jackson tells Mum to forget about her time in Wentworth. Mum says that she will never forget about it.

Mum and Bea are released. Mum's daughter, Lorraine, picks her up. Lorraine isn't exactly overjoyed to see her. Eddie comes to collect Bea.

Back in the laundry, Marilyn is showing Karen how to work the steam-press. The girls talk about Doctor Miller and joke about all of the women making a pass at him. Franky walks in and makes her presence known. She pushes Karen off the press and takes over.

Mum and her daugher are having lunch in a rather empty and heavily branded 'Pizza Hut'. Lorraine tells her mother that she doesn't want her to stay with her. Lorraine doesn't want her friends to find out that her mother has been in prison. She says that she didn't think they'd ever let Mum out, and that she would die inside. That's why she always agreed to her staying. She has never forgiven her mother for what she has done. Upset, Mum decides to leave and find herself somewhere to stay. Lorraine drives away.

Eddie drives Bea into town. They go to The Monarch Hotel, a very expensive place to stay.

Karen is called to see Greg. They talk about her trial. Karen gets upset about Greg poking his nose in and leaves while he lights up a cigarette in his surgery!

Karen goes out to the prison garden where she talks to Lyn. Franky comes over and walks all over the vegetables which are growing. Lyn attacks her with the spade and a fight breaks out between the three of them. Meg and Vera come over just in time to stop it getting out of hand.

Lyn decides to have a hunger strike until someone believes her about the child she was charged with burying alive.

Bea and Eddie arrive in the posh hotel. She's staying in The Regal Suite. She orders a bottle of bubbly for her and Eddie. She tells him that she used to work as a dish washer in the kitchens and that she had always wanted to book in as a guest. Bea wants a night of freedom before she goes back to her husband, because after tomorrow it won't matter anymore.

Mum arrives in a very grotty motel. The room is dark, dirty and run down - not dissimilar from Wentworth! She opens her suitcase and hugs the blanket which the women made for her.

Back at the Jackson's house, Marty has made his own tea. His parents come home and he decides to go out to see his girlfriend. He tells them that he wants to move out and live with her but they don't have a chance to say anything because he leaves straight away.

Bea wakes the next morning in her hotel room. She books an appointment at the hairdressers for 'the works'. Later she catches a cab.

Bea makes a phonecall to a lady called Val at 'Diamond Mine Jewellery'. They used to be cell mates inside. They meet for lunch at an outdoor cafe. She asks Val if she had brought the present for her husband. Val passes her a box... she tells Bea not to do it but Bea says she won't change her mind...

Later Bea visits the grave of her daugher, Debbie. We see a brief flash-back scene of a visit inside between Bea and her daughter. Following this, another flashback of Vera refusing Bea to go to Debbie's funeral. Bea says sorry to the grave and leaves some flowers.

She rings on the doorbell at her home. She opens the box which Val gave her and pulls out a gun. When her husband comes to the door, she tells him that she's brought him a present. She shoots him on the doorstep.
