Episode Details
Vera Bennett looks in on Lyn who doesn't answer her: "You're still not trying to prove you're innocent are you?.. then you'll starve!"
The girls are in the dining room having their breakfast. The bell sounds and Franky telle the women to shutup. Vera instructs them to get out but nobody moves. Karen makes an attempt to get up but Doreen pushes her back down warning her that Franky will kill her. Meg reports the trouble to Mrs Davidson.
When she arrives, Erica is greeted by Franky - who asks her if she's come to hear the women's complaints about the food. Erica asks Franky if they do have any complaints, to which Franky replies "Nah". The women applaud her with a laugh. Erica then questions Franky about why the women aren't at work. She says that she was under the impression that they did as Franky said. Franky asks the women to go back to work and they all move out. Mrs Davidson is less than impressed and asks Vera to report back to her if there is any more trouble.
Bill Jackson is having a talk with Chrissie Latham in his office. She makes a pass at him and kisses him. He doesn't respond to her kiss and tells her that he's wasting his time trying to help her. Chrissie says that it's ok for him because he can go home to a wife. Just at that moment, Meg walks in and Bill instructs Chrissie to leave. Meg tells Bill that Marty has come to the prison to talk to them both. Bill says he hasn't got time and Meg storms out in a huff.
Marty is waiting in the prison grounds for his parents. He spots Lyn who is outside tidying up the mess that Franky made yesterday. Lyn picks up a rose which Mum showed her before she left. At this moment the Prisoner theme tune, On The Inside, is played in the background - the first time we hear it. Meanwhile, Mum is on the outside walking through the park.
Meg comes out to talk to Marty. He's not happy that his father hasn't come out to see him. Meg quickly makes an excuse and tells Marty that the three of them will go swimming that evening and that Bill has cancelled his college class especially.
In the laundry, Franky is questioning Karen about why she almost left the kitchen when Franky told her not to. She says that she'd better not do it again at lunchtime when they will all repeat the stunt. Karen is called to Bill's office.
Bill asks Karen if she wants to move jobs and maybe work in the library rather than the laundry. After all, she is a qualified school teacher. Karen asks if Dr Miller has told Bill to say this. She gets upset and tells Bill that she just wants to be left alone.
Back to the laundry and Lizzie has got Marilyn some bits of old wire in exchange for some make-up.
Greg is examining Rosie and tells her that she's in excellent health and will give birth to a perfectly healthy baby. She says that she doesn't want her baby born inside. As she leaves, Bill Jackson comes in to see Greg. Bill tells Greg that speaking to Karen was a waste of time. On his way back, Meg tells Bill about their swimming appointment for tonight. He agrees reluctantly that he'll be there at 4 o'clock.
Lizzie opens a fuse box with a wire coat-hanger. Marilyn tampers with the wires inside, which causes the electrics to blow - and means that the machines in the laundry don't work. Vera collects Franky from there and tells her that she's got something to show her.
Vera brings Franky outside to the prison grounds and they both watch the new arrival get out of the paddy wagon. It's none other than Bea Smith - back at Wentworth, much to Franky's disappointment.
Bea is inducted. She has been sent back to Wentworth for killing her husband.
Vera convinces Erica to allow Bea to go back to the other women straight away, rather than to solitary as she will get things back to normal.
Eddie, the electrician, has been called out to Wentworth to look at the electrics. He tells Officer Yates that he has to go up into the roof to check things out. Marilyn chats with him and he tells her that is will really only take a few minutes to fix.
The women are cleaning up in the laundry. Rosie appears to have a contraction and has to sit down. Franky comes in and tells the women that Bea is back and that none of the women have to side with her. Anyone who disobeys Franky will be in trouble. As the women leave for lunch, we see a pair of scissors be taken by a mysterious hand...
Bea is brought into the dining room. She tells Vera that she knows why she wasn't put into solitary. The other women join Bea and sit with her at the table, leaving Franky without her mates.
Meanwhile Lyn, who isn't eating, walks in on Rosie who is crying on her bed. Rosie tells Lyn to get Mrs Jackson. When Meg arrives Rosie's pain has got worse. Meg stays with her.
The bell rings for end of lunch. The women freeze for a few moments, then Bea stands up. One by one, the majority of the other women follow her. When Karen gets up, Franky stops her and tells her that she warned her. Karen sits back down while the prisoners who have stood up leave. Franky looks confused. The women go to the laundry to talk about what to do.
Franky and her gang go wild in the dining room and start throwing plates at Vera. She locks them in. The security gates around the dining room are locked also. Vera looks on as Franky and the others come out of the dining room, shouting and screaming.
In the roof, Marilyn and Eddie are getting cosy as the riot bell suddenly goes off. Marilyn tells Eddie not to go down because he'll get hurt.
Meg goes to get Greg as Rosie is going into labour. She runs into the dining room but is caught by Franky. She is held hostage by the prisoners.
Bea and Franky's gangs are kept apart by the security gates. Franky tells Mrs Davidson who has just arrived, that she has got Meg Jackson and wants the security gates opened so she and Bea can fight it out. Erica tells them that there will be no showdown. Franky threatens her that if anything happens "we've got Meg Jackson". Inside the dining room, the scissors which were stolen from the laundry are sneaked under some towels... but we don't see by who.
Rosie's pain is getting worse. Lyn runs to find Meg.
Meg is now strapped to the chair in the dining room. Chrissie taunts her about her husband. Her and Karen have a bit of a disagreement. Lyn comes in and tells everyone that Rosie needs the doctor. Franky says that nobody is going through to help her but Lizzie reminds her that if anything happens to the baby, Franky's life won't be worth living.
Erica comes back to her office to Bill and Greg. Bill is angry that they aren't doing more to help Meg. Erica tells Bill that Meg is fully experienced. Vera comes in to say that Franky has agreed to let Greg come through to help Rosie. Him and Bill bring through a stretcher to the security gate. Chrissie brings Meg out. Franky tells them not to try anything when they bring Rosie out otherwise Meg will be hurt. Rosie is let out.
Marty comes home to an empty house. He obviously hasn't got a clue that his parents are caught up in trouble at Wentworth.
Erica agrees that Bill can speak to Franky and try to reason with her to call off the riot. Doreen has overheard what's going to happen so she runs off to tell Bea.
While Franky is discussing her plan, Karen sneaks off over to Meg and unties her hands without anyone noticing. She tells Meg to remember that she isn't involved.
Tired of waiting at home, Marty decides to ring Wentworth to see where his parents are. When he finds out that they are still there he gets angry and smashes a photograph of the three of them and storms off outside.
Still up in the ceiling, Eddie and Marilyn are still enjoying eachother's company. Worried about the riot alarm Eddie puts his shirt back on and decides to go back down to the floor and take a look.
The security gate is opened and Bill walks through with the officer with the keys. He tries to reason with Franky about getting Meg out. He tells her that he'll testify against the authority and say that they were wrong to let Bea back with the other women so soon. Bea tells her lot to get ready because Franky is up to something.
Meg is brought out. The gates are opened but it's a set up. Franky and her gang go crazy. Meg tries to break them up but gets caught in the commotion. Lizzie steals the keys off the officer and opens the other gate so Bea and her mates can join in.
Eddie looks around the corner and watches what's going on...
Bea and Franky are fighting. Bea beats Franky and pushes her to the ground. She shouts "allright, who's next?" and suddenly Lyn screams. Bill is lying on the floor, stabbed with the pair of scissors. Nursing him Meg asks the women if they've got what they wanted. The women and staff look on in horror...
