Episode Details
The women are eating breakfast and Helen complains about the food again. She recommends to Bea that they refuse to eat it and that they would have to do something about it if they all stuck together. Lizzie sees nothing wrong with the food. Doreen asks Bea what she thinks and she agrees that it might help. They all put their spoons down and Helen stands up and tells Vera that they aren't going to eat the food anymore. Vera tells Helen that they either eat it or starve. Helen asks to see the Governor and is refused then she asks again and the women start chanting. Vera leaves the Dining Room to go and get the Governor.
Erica is reading the report on Lynn being released and isn't happy with the publicity this has caused. Vera bursts in and tells Erica about the women refusing to eat and that Helen started it. Erica explains that she will see them when they have calmed down, by which time they should be hungry enough to eat again.
In the rec room Bea is handing out buy up to the women. Mum advises Helen not to stir up trouble.
Lynn has arrived home, pregnant but free, she is met by her parents and they take her home. Lynn's mum fills her in on what's been going on in the town since she has been away. Lynn tells them that they have to stop acting like nothing has happened and talk about the fact that she has been in jail and is pregnant, at which point her father leaves and her mother [ ] tells her that they should put it all behind them and move on and make up a story about how she got pregnant.
Meanwhile, Helen is giving the women eye exercises [ ] when Vera walks in and tells Helen that the governor will see her. The women leave to go to work when Eddie walks in, Bea asks if he has heard from her and he hasn't. He is missing her and wants her back.
Helen is complaining about the food to the governor, Erica tells her that she only doing this to gain more publicity and that she will look into the food situation; if its not up to standard then she will do something about it.
Greg and Meg are in his surgery, he asks Meg to talk to Vera about the problems she has been facing recently as she is friendly with her at which point Vera bursts in and has a go at Meg for not helping her with the new admissions that have just arrived.
The women are in the laundry; Helen walks in and tells them that the governor will be in the dining room to taste the food at lunchtime. Bea praises her and then tells Doreen to make sure the food is bad when the governor eats with them. Helen advises Karen to help the women on the inside when she has left as she used to be a teacher and it might benefit them. Franky buts in and tells Helen to stay from Karen as she belongs to her.
Helen is walking back to her cell when she is met by one of the new admissions- Marilyn; she argues with Helen and is then led away to the laundry by Vera. Bea is unimpressed with the fact that she has been picked up for soliciting again.
Mum talks to Doug outside and he tells her he is behaving as he is due for parole soon and is going to write to Lynn to tell her to come back so that they can be together.
Lynn is writing to Doug [ ], explaining what things have been like since she has been back at home, she wishes he was there with her as her parents don't understand what's going on.
Bea asks Eddie if he was serious about giving things another go with Marilyn, he says that he has been miserable without her and then asks her if she knows where Marilyn is as he wants to talk to her. Bea brings Marilyn to him and he is angry with the fact that she is back inside, he now wants nothing more to do with her and she runs off crying.
Marilyn is lying crying on her bed when Bea joins her and comforts her, Marilyn blames Helen and Bea wont listen as she believes Helen has done a lot for them since she has been inside.
Helen, James and her solicitor are being watched by Meg in the interview room and her solicitor is going over the contract which gives James control of the Australian side of the business. She tells James she will read it and sign it before tomorrow's trail and asks to speak to her solicitor privately. He tells her to be careful of James and that she has a pretty good chance of being released especially if she can get one of the officers to be a character witness for her.
The women are in the dining room waiting for the governor to arrive. Bea distracts Vera and Doreen puts a bag of salt in the food and stirs it in. Erica arrives and sits down to a plate full of food. She tastes it and is visibly disgusted by what she eats [ ]. She tells them that lunch will be delayed as she has to speak to the kitchen officer (!). The women laugh and Helen looks pleased.
Lynn is also eating with her parents, she explains that she has to post a letter to someone she used to know inside. Her dad tells her that it isn't a good idea and her mum also advises her against it.
Erica comes back with the food and tells Helen that she was wrong about the food, Helen disagrees and explains that she should let some of the women cook the food themselves, that way they can't complain about it as they will have made it. Lizzie volunteers and is turned down, then Bea volunteers herself and Marilyn.
Helen visits Greg with indigestion and asks him to tell the judge about all the help she has been giving them women and fill her in on some of the other women's backgrounds; he agrees to help her with both things.
Lynn meets Billy, an old friend, who is angry with her for getting pregnant, and posts her letter to Doug as he storms off.
The women are in the laundry; Doreen is praising the food when Helen asks to see her. She wants Doreen to help her to forge a signature when Vera interrupts them and moves them back to the laundry.
Two officers are insulting Vera and she hears every word without them realising.
Helen walks into the recroom and asks Karen who the girl is with the plastic doll and why she's upset. Karen explains that her name is Beth and that she has her child taken away from her; its prison procedure once they turn 1. Helen tells her that she can get her baby back for her and Karen disagrees. Helen argues with her and tells her that her solicitor can sort it out. Karen comforts Beth and tells her what Helen has said.
Doreen is practising Helen's signature when Lizzie walks in. She tells her to go away as she is busy.
Eddie is still working in the rec room, Marilyn tries to talk to him and he refuses.
Vera is at home getting ready to go out. The door bell rings; it's Meg, who tells Vera she is worried about her. Vera tells Meg that she is going out with a male friend and shuts the door. She walks back in and gets a drink.
Vera then gets drunk in a bar and makes a fool of herself in front of everyone. A police officer threatens to arrest her for being drunk and disorderly. He then takes her home and she breaks down in front of him, she explains to him that she wants to meet people and make friends, every night she gets ready to go out but can't do it. She tells him that everyone hates her at work. She is upset because everyone was laughing at her as she made a fool of herself. She then lays down saying everyone hates her and falls asleep. The police officer turns the light off and leaves.
The next morning Vera [ ] opens Bea's cell door and they make fun of her. Helen tells Doreen that she has done a good job but now needs to do the real job, she pays Doreen for doing it.
Later in the laundry, Doreen defends Helen and tells everyone that she is innocent, Lizzie is not so sure and Bea tells them that they will all know soon enough.
Karen goes to see Greg and asks her to help Beth get her baby back. She asks him to contact the Prison Reform Group and he agrees. He tells her is appearing as a character witness for Helen Masters.
Helen is in the interview room and her solicitor tells her that she has nothing to worry about. James asks for the contract and she gives it to him. Meg leads them out.
Vera is speaking to the police officer that helped her the night before, in the governor's office on her telephone, she sets up a date with him for the following night, Erica walks in as she is doing so and when she ends the call Erica tells her not to make personal calls on it again. She apologises and leaves.
Doreen ditches Lizzie as a friend in favour of Helen Masters and Lizzie sits with Franky instead.
Lynn and her family are having tea with the vicar, he tries to blame Lynn for all that has happened but tells her not to worry as God will help her. Her father disagrees and tells him that none of what happened to Lynn was her fault. He gets so upset that the Vicar leaves.
Helen is celebrating her success in court with Mr Gutherie, James and Greg. Greg leaves thanking him. When Mr Gutherie leaves, James gets a phone call and arranges a news conference for Helen. She fires him, telling him that the signature on the contract was forged.
Lynn is upset that no one is pleased that she has come home having been found innocent. She tells them that she may as well be guilty as all she has done is caused trouble for them all.
The women are sat in the rec room. They watch the interview with Helen and are pleased at first, until Helen [ ] starts saying how appalling the women were and how she got the impression that they liked being inside. Bea turns the TV off and Franky laughs and leaves with most of the women, Doreen looks most upset and Beth comments that she didn't mention anything about getting her baby back.
Greg walks in with the number for the Prison Reform Group and Karen tells him to forget it.

Trivia
It is implied that the kitchen is somewhere else in the building during this episode, away from the dining room where the women eat. Later on in the series, the kitchen is through a door directly next to the dining room.
