Episode Details

Greg asks Karen how she hurt her eye and Karen tells him that she bumped into a door and to ask Miss Bennett. Greg tells her that the door must have had a right hook. Karen tells him to believe what he wants. Greg tells Vera that he knows Doreen is back and Vera confirms it. Greg tells her that she gave herself up at the gate. Vera tells him that she didn't stand a chance without Franky and that she had the brains to realise it. Vera tells him that there were certain people that she couldn't wait to see again and Greg asks her what she means. Vera tells him to ask Karen then goes on to say that she will be moved back to her old cell soon and is looking forward to it. Karen tells her that she is the one who is looking forward to it. Greg asks if it was Doreen who hurt her Vera tells him to ask Karen. Vera tells him that they are dealing with animals who are bound to draw blood occasionally and that there is nothing much that they can do about it. Greg tells Vera that she could have Karen moved to another cell and Vera tells him that there is no point as things like that always happen. Greg asks her if she reported it to the Governor and Vera asks him if he is trying to tell her how to do her job. Greg thinks that he knows exactly what she is doing. Vera smiles.

Ken tells Catherine that they can't ignore what is going on and that they have to discuss it. He tells her that they have to think seriously about what Steve said about her plea. Catherine tells him that she wishes he hadn't sent Sarah to stay with his sister and he tells her that they get along fine and that he and Catherine have to talk. Catherine tells him that she didn't want to go and Ken tells her that it is better for her as she wont have to hear what's going on. Catherine tells him that it's probably because he didn't want her to be with her emotionally unstable mother and Ken hugs her and tells her that that isn't true. There is a knock at the door and Catherine tells her that if it's Mrs Pringle, she will take the tickets to the club tomorrow as she doesn't want to see her and she also needs to phone Di McMillan as she will be expecting a call about the committee. Ken answers the door and Bert Warren's wife comes in, telling Ken she has something to say. Ken introduces her to Catherine. She tells them that she wanted to see what sort of people they were and Catherine tells her that she has to leave. She tells Catherine and Ken that Bert was a decent, hardworking man, who had worked for Ken for 8 years and she tells them that he didn't lay a hand on Sarah. Ken apologises and she carries on, telling him that his wife and daughter must be mad as Bert would never have done anything like that. Catherine tells her to leave. She tells Catherine that because of her she now has nothing and no-one and asks Catherine what she is supposed to do now that she is on her own. Ken tells her that she can come back tomorrow and talk to them again. Catherine tells him that if he sees her again it must be in front of their lawyer. She tells him that she doesn't want anything to do with lawyers and Catherine tells her that she can either do that or not speak to Ken at all and Ken agrees. She asks him when the best time would be and he tells her that he will call her that evening. She leaves.

The women are watching TV in the recroom. Karen comes in with a patch over her eye. Bea asks her what happened and she tells her that it was Doreen. Bea doesn't believe her and Karen tells her that she can ask her when Vera moves her into their cell. Bea tells her that she won't let any fighting interrupt her beauty sleep. Bea tells her that Franky must have taught her some bad habits and that they will have to rehabilitate her. Bea is told to be quiet as they listen to the news; Catherine Roberts is going to trial for the murder of her daughter's rapist. Bea tells them that she did the right thing and one of the prisoners asks Bea if she remembers her and Bea tells her that she does, saying that she was afraid of her own shadow, which proves that you cant judge a book by its cover.

Erica tells Vera that she wants Doreen moved to another cell and that she must put her in with Lizzie as she was told that she attacked Karen Travers and that as there is every chance it could happen again, she doesn't want them in a cell together. Vera tells her that she has been talking to Greg and Erica asks her how she knows. Vera tells her that she took Karen to surgery. Erica asks her if she witnessed the attack. Vera tells her that she wasn't attacked; it was a scuffle that was nothing to worry about. Erica tells her that that was for her to decide and asks her why she didn't report it. Vera tells her that she didn't think it was important and that if she had to report to Erica every time the women took a swipe at each other then she wouldn't have time to perform her duties. Erica tells her that that is one of her duties. Vera tells her that it was a minor incident. Erica tells her that there is nothing minor about the prisoners striking each other and that she will not tolerate violence in the prison and she wont have the officers tolerating it either. Vera tells her that she didn't just stand there and that she broke it up as soon as it began. Erica tells her that it was unwise of her not to report it and that she must do so in the future as it is not the prison doctor's responsibility. Vera tells her that it isn't but he must have his reasons and leaves her office.

Vera is taking Doreen to her new cell and they bump into Bea and Karen. Bea is disappointed that she will not be sharing a cell with them and Doreen tells her to shut up. Bea threatens her, telling her to shut up. Vera tells them both to shut up, telling Bea that Doreen is moving in with Lizzie, the Governor has ordered it. Doreen tells them that someone has been talking and Karen tells her that she didn't say anything. Vera tells her that she didn't need to when she has a nice friend like Greg, just as Erica appears. Vera tells her that he would hate to see anything happen to Karen. Doreen tells her that even though she is moving out of the cell, it won't get Karen off the hook. Erica tells Bea and Karen to find something to do or she will find something for them. Erica tells Doreen that there will be no fighting with any of the other prisoners for whatever reason. Doreen agrees and Erica tells her that she will obey the rules or suffer the consequences. Doreen asks her if she going to slap her on the wrist and Erica tells her that she has been warned and tells Vera to take her to her cell.

Vera brings Doreen into Lizzie's cell and tells her that Doreen is moving in with her and that they will have lots to talk about. Lizzie tells her that she is glad to see her back as it wasn't the same without her. Doreen isn't bothered and asks her if she missed her. Lizzie tells her that she did and Doreen tells her that she didn't miss her and puts her things on her bed. Lizzie asks her if she had a good time on the outside and she said that she did. Lizzie tells her that she was sorry to hear about Franky. Doreen tells her to shut up about Franky as none of them are sorry about anything. Lizzie introduces Margaret, who has been sat in the cell, knitting, since Doreen arrived. Doreen asks her if she knitting a bag to go over her head and Lizzie tells Doreen to leave her alone as she isn't all there. Doreen tells Lizzie not to tell her what to do as she will say what she likes. Lizzie asks her if she has gone tough since she has been on the outside and Doreen tells her that she has. Lizzie tells her that she wasn't that tough, otherwise she wouldn't be back and Doreen tells her that she has reasons for coming back. Lizzie tells her to drop the act as she has known her for too long and Doreen threatens her. Doreen tells her that just because she was her friend once doesn't mean to say that she needs her now and asks them both to stay away from her. They both lie on their beds and read magazines when Lizzie asks her if she would like a cup of coffee and Doreen reminds her of what she just said. Lizzie tells her to please herself and winks at Margaret. Lizzie waits and Doreen asks for 3 sugars. Lizzie smiles and lies down on her bed.

Karen walks into the interview room to see Steve and he asks her what's happened. Karen tells him that one of the women hit her and Steve asks her why and she tells him that it is a prison, not a Girl Guide camp. Karen asks him why he is seeing her so early and he tells her that it's the only time he's got as Lynn' trial is coming up soon and he is defending Catherine. Karen tells him that everyone else is getting something done apart from her. Steve tells her that he put her reasons before the Supreme Court for wanting a retrial forward and that they just have to be patient and wait. Steve asks her to sign some papers and then tells her that he has to leave. He tells her to keep the faith and she tells him that she doesn't have much choice. He tells her that he wants her out of the prison. She asks him what she is signing.

Vera brings Lizzie to see Erica and she asks what she has done. Vera tells her to wait until she is spoken to. Erica tells her that she has had a phone call from a Doctor about Lizzie's brother, Angus, he is dying and he wants to see her. Erica tells her that as he is her only surviving relative then she will arrange it. Lizzie tells her that she doesn't want to see him as he never did anything for her or wrote to her while she's been inside. She tells Erica that she lent him $50 once and she never got it back and all he ever cared about was horses. Erica tells her that he might want to make his peace with her and she disagrees, telling Erica that he will be up to something. Erica asks her if she doesn't want to see him and she tells her that he could have been dead for the pasty 50 years for all the brother he's been to her. Erica hopes that she won't regret it in the future. Lizzie tells her that she has been in prison too long for regrets and asks if she can go. Erica tells her that she can and Lizzie leaves.

The women are working in the laundry. Karen tells Bea that Steve is very busy and he is going to represent Catherine. Bea tells her that they can look forward to seeing her around too and then tells Karen that she was joking. Karen tells her she is not in the mood for jokes. Bea tells her not to let it get her down and not to start counting the days as she will go crazy. Bea tells her that everything will happen in its own time. Karen tells her that Catherine will have to plead insanity and Bea tells her that there is nothing insane about what she did. Bea tells her that if she had got her hands on the men that got her daughter hooked on drugs then the streets would have been piled high. Karen tells her that if Catherine doesn't plead insanity then she won't stand a chance. Bea tells her that she was on the jury she wouldn't believe her and that everyone who kills someone lately claims to be crazy, as if they can be foaming at the mouth one minute then alright the next. Karen tells her that it happens and Bea tells her that you are either crazy or you're not and it can't be both. She tells Karen that she knew what she was doing and Karen tells her that it isn't that simple.

Lizzie walks into the laundry and Bea asks her what Erica wanted her for. Lizzie tells them that her brother is dying and that she didn't even know that he was alive. Bea asks her if they are letting her out to see him and she tells them that she can if she wants too. Karen asks her when she is going and Lizzie tells them that she isn't as she doesn't want to see him. Bea asks her why she doesn't want to and Lizzie tells them that he was a bastard to her and that he can hold someone else's hand. Bea asks her to use her head and then asks her how long she has been inside. Lizzie tells her that she has been inside for years. Bea asks her if she has ever had a day out and Lizzie tells her that she had one with Doreen and Franky. Bea tells her that she climbed over the fence and had a heart attack and Lizzie laughs, telling Bea that it was worth it. Bea tells her that she has to go outside as it will be her last chance to see what it's like; the next time she does they will be carrying her out. Bea tells her that she can also bring some presents back for her friends. Lizzie tells that that is only the reason she is interested in her having a day out. Bea tells her to stop being stupid, when Bea's daughter died they wouldn't let her go to the funeral and now they are offering Lizzie a day out on a plate, she tells her that if she doesn't go then Bea will break her neck.

Lizzie is back in Erica's office with Vera. Erica asks her why she has changed her mind all of a sudden and Lizzie tells her that she has been thinking about it and she was too hasty when making her decision as she was shocked, he is her brother after all and if he needs her then she should forget their past differences and go and see him as she isn't getting any younger and he is the only family she has left, so if he needs her she will do what Erica said and go and see him and make their peace. Erica tells her that she is glad and that she has made the right decision and she wont regret. Lizzie asks her how she is going to get to him. Vera tells Erica that she will take her and Lizzie tells Vera that she couldn't go with Vera as she is wearing an officer's uniform and people would stare at Lizzie, thinking she was a criminal. Vera tells her that she is a criminal. Erica tells Vera that she will take Lizzie to see her brother. Vera tells her that she hopes she can accept the responsibility as Lizzie did escape with Franky and Doreen and she thinks that Lizzie doesn't deserve the privilege. Erica tells her that she decides whether or not Lizzie deserves to go out and Lizzie promises Erica that she won't give her any trouble. Erica tells her that she can wear her own clothes and Lizzie is thrilled, telling Erica that they must be old enough to be back in fashion!

Ken introduces Mrs Warren to Steve. They sit down. Ken tells her that Catherine won't be there and they thought it would be for the best. Steve asks her why she has demanded money from Ken and she tells him that she didn't demand anything, she wanted to talk. She feels that she is owed something now that she is alone, especially after Bert worked for Ken for so long. Steve tells her that blackmail is a serious offence and she tells him that she isn't blackmailing anyone. He tells her that he could prove that she was if she continues. She tells him that needs something in return for taking away her husband. Steve tells her that if there is any compensation due to her then the court will decide it and that in the mean time she won't receive a penny from Ken. She tells Ken that he hasn't got a conscience and hopes that Catherine burns in hell for what she has done and then leaves his house. Ken asks him if they could do something for her and Steve tells him it would look bad in court if they paid the dead man's wife some money. Ken agrees and Steve tells him that she will be a witness for the prosecution and they would be crucified. Steve tells him to think and worry about his wife and no-one else.

Karen is teaching some of the women Maths in the recroom. Doreen appears at the door, dressed and looking similar to Franky. Karen tells her to leave the women alone as they are trying to learn. Doreen tells them that they are wasting their time and Karen asks them if they have finished. They tell her that they have and Doreen looks at one prisoners work and tells her it isn't right and that their teacher will be cross and calls her a dummy. Karen tells her to ignore Doreen. Doreen tells her that one of them has been cheating and asks Karen if she is going to keep her in after school. The women laugh and one of them tells her to get out. Doreen tells her that she wasn't talking to her and asks her if she is teacher's pet then tells her that she can miss her play and the women laugh again. Doreen asks Karen to teach them some history and writes KAREN KILLED FRANKY on the board. Karen tells her to get out of the recroom and Doreen pushes the board over. Doreen tells her to make her get out and one of the prisoners tells her that she will and gets up and grabs Doreen. Doreen pushes her into the table and tells her that she failed and Doreen will go to the top of class. Doreen walks out of the recroom.

Greg is treating one of the women in the surgery and tells her that she doesn't want to see her again, as there is nothing wrong. Vera walks in and tells her to get out, she leaves and Greg asks Vera what she wants. Vera tells him that Doreen and Karen have been separated and that Erica insisted on it after he had been to see her. Greg tells her that he expressed an opinion as he is concerned for the health of the prisoners. Vera tells him that he should keep his opinions medical as everything else concerns prison officers only. Greg tells them that if they are going to assault each other then it is his business as he is the one who has to take care of them. Vera tells him to treat them and leave the rest to the officers. Greg tells her that she wasn't going to do a thing. Vera tells him to do his job and she will do hers and tells not to meddle in things that don't concern him.

The women are in the laundry. Bea asks Doreen if she has come back down to earth and Doreen threatens her. Bea grabs her and asks her what her name is. Doreen tells her that her name is Bea. Bea is greatful that she has remembered that. Bea thinks Doreen has forgotten who ran the prison whilst she was on the outside and Doreen disagrees. Bea tells her that she might be able to bash some of the others and impress the new girls but it doesn't matter to her. Bea tells her that she won't remind her again.

Lizzie comes in and tells Bea that she told Erica that she would go and that Erica is going with her and that she can wear her own clothes, Lizzie is really excited. Bea tells her that she will look silly as her clothes will be out of fashion and Lizzie tells her that she isn't that old. Lizzie tells her that she is honoured to be going out with the Governor and Doreen tells her that she is dumb. Lizzie tells her that it is an honour and Bea agrees, asking Doreen what she thinks. Doreen looks at them both and then leaves the laundry. Lizzie asks Bea what's wrong with Doreen and asks her what she it trying to prove. Bea tells her that she doesn't know but she will be in a lot of trouble if she doesn't change soon.

Catherine pours herself a drink and then asks Ken if he would like one. Ken tells her that he wouldn't and Catherine tells him not to worry as she isn't turning into an alcoholic. Catherine tells him that she will make him some lunch. He follows her into the kitchen and asks Catherine if she has given her plea any thought. She tells him that she isn't going to plead insanity. He tells her that she will be pleading temporary insanity and she tells him that she can't see the difference between the two. Ken tells her that she has to give herself a chance. Catherine tells him that she is not mad and that she won't have everyone believing that she is. Ken tells her that he doesn't want to lose her then he asks about Sarah. Catherine tells him that she was thinking about Sarah when she killed Bert; she was trying to protect her daughter. Ken tells her that they have to prove that she isn't a cold blooded murderer. They go into the living room and Catherine asks him what happened with Mrs Warren. Ken tells her that Steve has advised him not to pay her any money as it will damage the case. Catherine asks him if he was going to pay her and he tells her that he didn't know what do. Catherine starts to tell him what she did and he tells her that he doesn't want to talk about it and that she won't be back. He pours himself a drink. Catherine asks him where he got the money for her bail and he tells her not to worry. She tells him that she wants to know. Ken tells her that he increased his overdraft at the bank and she asks him how they are going to pay Steve, he tells her that they will find the money and that she doesn't have to worry about it. Catherine tells him that they are going to have to sell the cottage at the beach and he thinks that they might have too. Catherine asks if it will affect Sarah's school fees and he tells her that it won't. He tells her that they will just have to juggle a few things round and tells her not to worry.

Lynn is telling Jean about the letter she got from her Dad. Jean asks her what's wrong and she tells her that it just sounds a bit strange. Jean reads the letter and Lynn tells her that he is no good at writing letters but is good at Christmas cards. Jean tells her that her Dad is coming to see her and that is good news. Lynn tells her that he seems very distant. Jean asks her how she thinks he felt when Doug and Lynn did a runner and Lynn thinks that he was angry with her as he didn't like or trust Doug, but she tells Jean that he didn't know Doug as well as she did. Jean asks her if she thinks her Dad felt hurt and Lynn tells her that she hadn't thought about it. Jean asks her if she loves her Dad and Lynn tells her that she does. Jean asks her if he knows she does as she has left home without saying goodbye. Lynn tells her that she wrote them a note and Jean tells her that it isn't the same. Jean asks her what she thinks he means by having a few problems and Lynn tells her that he means her. Jean tells her to stop feeling sorry for herself and asks her what she is going to do. Lynn tells her that when he comes to see her he will apologise for all the trouble she has caused him. She thanks Jean for listening and leaves.

Doreen is talking to two other prisoners in the garden, telling them that they wouldn't last long on run. Lynn walks past them and Doreen insults her, calling her Wonky Warner, they all laugh. Doreen then asks her if she has given any blood lately and they laugh again. Lynn walks past Vera who is smiling.

Lynn is tending to the garden when Doreen and the women come over and stand on a plant. Doreen pulls it out of the ground, telling Lynn that she hopes she didn't hurt it. Lynn gets up and they start pushing each other. Vera is just stood watching them fight when Meg comes over to her and asks her what's going on. She tells Vera that she has been keeping an eye on them then thinks about breaking the fight up and they run over. Vera grabs Doreen and Meg asks them who started the fight and Doreen tells her that they were just having fun. Meg tells Lynn to follow her and she does. She tells Lynn that her Dad has arrived and he is with Mrs Davidson. Meg tells her to tidy herself up.

Doreen comments to Vera that Lynn can't stay out of trouble and Vera tells her not to go too far. Doreen tells her that she accidentally stood on a vegetable and that Vera saw it anyway. Vera tells her that she did see what happened and walks away.

In solitary, Barbara is writing on the wall with some chalk. Vera brings her lunch in and puts it on the floor. Barbara asks her how they are managing without her and Vera tells her that they are surviving. Barbara asks for a book and Vera asks her if she is getting lonely. Barbara tells her that she is and Vera tells her that is meant to be and closes the door.

Lynn's Dad is waiting for her in the interview room. Meg brings her in and Lynn asks him to sit down. They sit down and Lynn asks him how he is, he tells her that he is alright. She asks if her Mum is okay and he tells her that she is in hospital. Lynn asks him why and he tells her that it should be obvious. Lynn asks him what's wrong with her and he tells her that she has had a turn after finding out what she had done; it was on the radio and television and everyone knew about it. Lynn starts crying and then asks him if she is going to be alright and he tells her that he doesn't know. She asks him why he didn't write to her and tell her and he tells her that there wasn't any point. Lynn asks him how he can say that as she is her Mum. He tells her that that hasn't ever mattered to her and that she cant take anymore and that he cant either. Meg tries to speak but he tells her it is bad enough having her in the same room listening to what he is saying when it is none of her business without her trying to tell him anything as well, as she is his daughter, not hers. Meg apologises. He tells Lynn that he hasn't been to see her before because he has a farm to run. He tells her that he is staying with her Aunty and Uncle and then asks her what he is supposed to do with her.

Vera walks back into Barbara's cell and notices that Barbara has drawn on the wall; she then makes Barbara give her the chalk. Barbara tells her that she has no one to talk to and nothing to do. Vera tells her that it must be doing her good as she has come down a bit. Barbara asks her how much longer she will have to stay in solitary and she tells her it is up to the VJ and comments on the nice day outside. Barbara asks her what a VJ is and Vera tells her that he is the one who could put her back in solitary for a fortnight for what she did. Barbara tells her that she isn't staying in solitary and Vera tells her that she hasn't got any choice. Vera tells her that she could call witnesses in her defence but there aren't any. Barbara tells her that she can think of one and Vera tells her not to try and cross her again and to accept her punishment and stay out of trouble. Vera picks up her plate and tells her not to appeal to her Aunty for help as she won't be there. Barbara asks her where she is and Vera tells her it is none of her business and slams the door shut.

Lynn's Dad is talking to Jean. He asks her if Lynn has got a lawyer and she tells him that she has. He asks her who is paying for it and she tells him that she has legal aid. He asks her what her chances are and Jean tells him that her lawyer will do the best he can. Jean tells him that it must be difficult for him to have come to the prison and he gets angry with her and apologises. She tells him that she understands how he must be feeling and he asks her how she can as she has never had a daughter in the same mess as Lynn is. Jean tells her that she is concerned for her. Lynn's Dad assumes that they think he isn't and then he tells her that because she is educated she thinks that farmers are old, unsophisticated and stupid. Jean tells her that she is wrong but that since he has been in the prison he has been told what to do and how awful he is as a parent. He tells her that they think he has let her daughter down by turning his back on her but he tells her that they have worked hard to bring Lynn up and show her right from wrong. He tells her that they didn't want Lynn to go working in the city and it was her idea to go. He tells Jean that when she came back after what went on with the Bentley's child they were willing to forgive and forget and start again until she ran off with Doug and then ended up back inside. Jean tells him that she understands and asks him what he will do now. He tells her that he won't give up on her yet. Jean tells him that Lynn is naïve and easily led and she thinks that she was led astray by Doug. She tells him that she needs to be accepted by someone who won't give up on her, like her parents. He tells her that Lynn thinks that she doesn't need them.

Vera and Meg are in Erica's office and she tells them that she is sure that they can manage without her for the first time in a long time. Meg reminds her that Barbara is appearing in front of the VJ and she tells them that it makes no difference, she is just another prisoner. Vera tells her that they will be able to handle it and Erica agrees. Erica asks Meg to go and get Lizzie and take her to reception, Meg leaves and Erica tells Vera to give her regards to the VJ and to ask him what happened to the last one as she hasn't seen him for ages. Vera says goodbye to her and shuts the door. Vera smiles and takes great pleasure in sitting in Erica's chair.

Lynn is talking to Jean. She asks Jean if she saw her father and asks what he said about her. She tells her that he wanted to know what her chances were and if she had found her a lawyer. Lynn asks her again and she asks Lynn what she wants from her parents. Lynn tells her that she wants them to understand and not hate her. Jean tells her that they don't hate her. Lynn tells her that he blames her for everything and he is really angry with her. Jean tells her that he is upset about her Mum but he wants to help Lynn. Lynn tells her that Jean expected him to and that he came to see Lynn because he had too, not because he wanted too. Jean asks her why she asked what he said about her and she tells Jean that she had to be sure. Jean tells her that she hasn't listened to a word she has said and Lynn tells her that she remembers their conversation that morning and that he wouldn't listen and she storms out.

Vera is talking to a prisoner; she gives her a time and tells her not to be late. The prisoner walks off as Meg walks up to Vera and asks her what she was talking about. Vera tells her that it was nothing important and asks how Lynn got on with her visitor. They walk down the corridor as Meg tells her that she didn't think she was interested. Vera tells her that it was her father and she thinks he went mad at her. Meg agrees but doesn't think it was the right thing to do, Vera thinks she deserves it. Vera asks Meg if she is afraid she will kill herself and Meg tells her that she has tried to do it before. Vera tells her that she wasn't trying to kill herself, she was looking for attention. Meg tells her that there are easier ways of doing it and Vera tells her that anything else wouldn't have been as effective. Meg asks her if she believes it and Vera tells her that she should too. Meg tells her that she could have died and Vera tells her that she didn't and that she knows what she is doing. She tells Meg that she too soft hearted and that Lynn has her wrapped around her little finger. Meg disagrees but tells Vera that someone has to keep an eye on her after what's happened. Vera tells her that she is wasting her time, especially after all the trouble she went to to have Lynn's case reopened and was repaid by Lynn being put back inside.

Doreen and the two prisoners come out of the recroom laughing and Meg asks her where she is going. Doreen tells her that she is going to the garden and Meg tells her that work needs done in the laundry. Doreen tells her that everything is under control and walks off. Vera tells Meg that she should be watching Doreen and not Lynn and Meg tells her that she is.

Lynn is sat in the garden when Doreen walks over to her and asks her what she doing. Lynn makes a comment and Doreen tells her to stop acting so tough. Lynn tells her to go away and asks Doreen what she wants. Doreen asks her why she isn't doing the garden as they thought they would help her. Lynn tells her that she was a lot of help the last time and Doreen tells her that she wont make the same mistake again as she has been reading about it. Lynn tells them that they can do what they like as she isn't doing anything for anyone anymore. Doreen comments to her that she waking up to a few things and that she isn't innocent this time so she is one of them now and Lynn agrees.

Lynn is sat on her own and Doreen is talking to the same two prisoners. One of them reminds them that it is buy up that afternoon and Doreen asks her if she has any money, she tells her that she hasn't and tells her that she will have to miss out. Doreen tells them that Franky never missed out and that there is no reason why they should either as she knows how Franky used to work it and that they could do it as well. Lynn joins them and asks Doreen what they are talking about and is told that it is none of her business. Doreen asks her what she wants and Lynn tells her that she doesn't want anything and that she can sit where she likes. The other girls wonder if Lynn wants to help and she asks her what they have to do. Doreen tells her that she wouldn't be good at it and Lynn reminds her that she is one of them. One of the other girls tells her that they need the extra help and Doreen gives in. Lynn asks her what she has to do.

The women are receiving their buy up in reception with Meg supervising, when the VJ, Mr Godwin walks in. She asks him if Mr Bell is still away and is told that he is visiting his daughter in England. He tells her that he is surprised that she still works there after what happened to her husband and comments that the women need a firmer hand. He then asks her how Mrs Davidson is and she tells him that Mrs Davidson is on business outside the prison and that Miss Bennett is in charge. Mr Godwin comments on Miss Bennett's efficientness and asks Meg to show him to her.

The VJ is sat with Vera and a prisoner brings them in some tea, puts it down and leaves. Meg asks Vera if she would the first girl to be sent in. Vera tells her that they will have tea first and call her when they are ready for the first case; Barbara Davidson. Meg leaves. Vera asks him how he likes his tea and he tells her, then comments that it is a pleasant surprise to see her sat in the Governor's chair. She tells him that it is only while Erica is away but it is very nice. He tells her that he has often thought that the authorities don't made good enough use of her ability and she thinks it is unfortunate that there aren't enough people who feel like that and offers him a vanilla slice which he takes and eats.

Jean is talking to Mum when Meg walks in. She puts the phone down and tells Meg that Mum and Judith Anne are getting on really well. Meg is pleased. Jean tells her that it didn't go well with Lynn and her Dad. Meg tells her that Vera is sat in Erica's office with tea and cakes and the VJ, as if she were holding a garden party. Jean tells her that she is not surprised. Meg tells her that Erica has only gone for the afternoon but Vera is carrying on like she was founding a Dynasty. Jean's comment is "Hail Vera!" Jean tells her that Miss Bennett makes her job more difficult and that they would be in trouble if she was Governor for more than one day. The phone rings and Jean passes it to Meg, she tells Vera that she will bring Barbara to her straight away. Meg thinks that Barbara is in for a tough time.

Doreen, Lynn and another prisoner ambush a girl on the stairs and take away her cigarettes. She asks for them back and when they are distracted by Meg she grabs them and runs off. Meg asks Lynn if she is alright then sends everyone back to work. Meg leaves and Doreen grabs Lynn and blames her for them losing the cigarettes, telling her that she is weak and useless. She lets go of her and they leave her alone and go back up the stairs.

Meg walks into Barbara's cell and tells her that it is time for her to see the VJ. Barbara leaves her cell and Meg follows her. Meg explains what will happen and asks her if she has any questions. Barbara tells her that everyone seems to have already made their minds up about her and tells Meg that the officers aren't all innocent either. Meg asks her what she means and Barbara tells her that an officer helped her to get stuff into the prison and when Meg asks her who it was she tells her that she is going to tell the VJ. Meg looks shocked.
