Episode Details
Clara asks Steve for legal advice over her arrest and apologises to Jean about the half way house project. Clara tells Steve that the external auditors have been called in over the books concerning her private company. She tells him that she has been fiddling the books because she needed the money to donate to charity.
The nurse delivers Bea’s breakfast and she tells her about the time she stayed in the Monarch Hotel and shot her husband. Vera arrives to check on Bea’s progress and tells her that she is to be transferred back to Wentworth in a couple of days. Vera asks to have a word with the policewoman and they leave the room. Bea opens and reads Mum’s note.
Jean is in her office, telling Meg about what happened with Clara. She tells Meg that she will have to tell Karen that she won’t be running the halfway house, as there isn’t going to be one. Meg is not amused that Jean has built up Karen’s hopes.
The policewoman tucks Bea into her bed. She questions Bea about the women in the prison. The Nurse arrives and gives Bea a painkiller. The policewoman leaves and Bea takes the painkiller out of her mouth and smiles.
Vera opens up Lizzie’s cell and Doreen complains that she isn’t feeling well. Vera tells her to report to sick bay. Lizzie asks Vera if she is still feeling sick and Vera walks out of their cell. Lizzie asks Doreen if she is alright. Doreen tells her that she wishes Bea was back and Lizzie disagrees. Doreen tells her that she must be better than Monica. Lizzie tells her that it’s either her or Noeline and she is a desperate woman. Doreen tells her she is scared. Monica walks in and asks them to help her bash Noeline. Doreen tells her to forget it and tells her that Bea would keep them out of trouble.
Noeline won’t let Karen pass by her in the corridor. Noeline questions Karen over her friendship with Bea and Monica taking over. Karen tells her that she isn’t going to take sides. Noeline threatens her as Meg approaches and tells Karen that Jean wants to see her. Meg warns Noeline over her behaviour.
The women are in the shower block. Monica isn’t pleased that Doreen is talking to Noeline. Monica whispers something to Lizzie and she fakes one of her turns. The officer takes her out and Doreen turns on the shower. The women push Noeline into the shower, which is running with boiling hot water [ ].
The officer escorting Lizzie is stopped by Meg who hears Noeline shouting and asks her what’s happened. Meg runs into the shower block and the women let Noeline out of cubicle. Meg questions the women as Vera enters and Meg takes Noeline out to see the Doctor. Vera cancels all of their privileges and tells them to leave.
Jean apologises to Karen about the failure of the half way house project. Karen asks about her going to Uni and is told that she will have to wait and see.
Clara walks into Steve’s office. She tells him that she has been found out by the auditors. Steve asks her what happened and she tells him that she made out cheques for goods to companies that didn’t exist for goods that didn’t exist. He tells her that if they talk to the directors they won’t take the matter any further if she offers to reimburse them. Clara tells them that it isn’t that easy as the few thousand pounds discrepancy discovered by the auditors is $75,000. Steve tells her that it won’t be impossible for her to arrange to give them their money back. Clara tells him that it is, as they will soon discover that she took $254,780!
The Doctor is examining Bea and tells her that she is healing nicely. Bea asks him to give him another painkiller to help her sleep and he agrees.
The women are in the laundry. Doreen tells her that Bea will sort things out when she gets back and Lizzie agrees, telling her that she will sort out Noeline too. Monica tells them that she will sort out Noeline and that she is still Top Dog until Bea returns. Doreen agrees. Meg walks in and announces that buy up will be in 5 minutes. Monica tells her that it is no good to them and Meg tells her that it was their own fault. Doreen asks Meg if she can scrub floors instead of losing her buy up and Meg refuses. Doreen asks Karen if she can get some sweets for her and she agrees to get things for Lizzie and Doreen. Monica isn’t impressed and tries to get the women on side but fails.
Clara is in a courtroom. Steve enters and tells her that she will be appearing in the magistrate’s court the next day. Clara explains that she gave most of the money away that she borrowed from her friends who had invested in the company, she kept some money but that came from her share and not theirs. Steve tells her that she may get a lighter sentence because of her charity work.
Meg tells Vera that a Detective from consorting wants to see her in Erica’s office. She asks if it’s anything to do with Anne Yates and her friends. Vera walks off down the corridor, telling the women to get to to Dining Room for lunch.
Karen appears and takes Lizzie and Doreen into their cell to give them the buy up she got for them. Noeline appears and takes some of Lizzie’s cigarettes. Doreen tells Noeline that Bea will sort her out when she comes back. Meg walks in and tells them to go to the Dining Room.
Vera is in Erica’s office and is being questioned about George Lucas, she is told that she has received a letter from Anne’s solicitor about George. Vera doesn’t tell him anything. She tells him that she bumped into Anne who told her that there was a flat going in her block when she needed a place to stay. Vera asks him about the letter and he tells Vera that he needs to find George quickly.
Bea hides another painkiller, then distracts the policewoman while she pours them into her tea. The nurse checks on Bea later and sees her and the policewoman fast asleep and leaves. Bea gets out of her bed and walks down the corridor. She hears footsteps and walks into another room where a patient is sleeping. She opens her wardrobe and takes some of her clothes and smiles.
Later, Bea knocks on the door of Mum’s flat and Mum lets her in. Bea is in pain as Mum gets her a glass of brandy. Mum asks her what she has done and Bea tells her that she has escaped. Mum tells her to go back and Bea tells her that she won’t. Judith-Anne appears and tells Mum that she knows who Bea is. Bea apologises to Mum, telling her that she had nowhere else to go and that the police wouldn’t think about calling at Mum’s flat. Bea tells her that she is only going to stay for a couple of days. Judith-Anne tells her that if she gets caught her Gran will end up back in prison. Mum sends Judith-Anne back to bed. Bea tells her that Judith-Anne is right and she will find somewhere else to stay. Mum tells her that they will talk about it in the morning.
Erica, Meg and Jean arrive at work the next morning as Lynn is leaving, she gets a lift from Geoff. Erica tells Meg and Jean that Bea has escaped from hospital. Jean tells her that she won’t get very far. Erica tells Meg that she thinks Vera seems disturbed. Meg tells her that she still might be ill but is on night duty so might be alright.
Noeline sneaks into a cell.
Sid notices that Lynn and Geoff arrive at work together. Geoff tells Lynn about his course. Sid tells Lynn off for being late and ignores them both. Lynn walks off and Sid tells Geoff that Lynn can travel to and from work on her own and she doesn’t need him to collect her and take her back. Geoff tells him that he doesn’t mind. Sid tells him that he is seeing too much of her and that he should be concentrating on his degree. Geoff asks him that it might develop into something with Lynn and Sid tells him that he has no future with her. Geoff argues with him then tells Lynn that she will pick her up after work. Lynn tells him that he doesn’t want to cause trouble between him and his Dad.
The women are in the laundry. Noeline asks Monica if she is looking forward to Bea returning. Doreen walks in crying; her teddy bear has had its head taken off. Lizzie tries to comfort her. Karen asks her who did it and she tells her she doesn’t know. Monica and Noeline blame each other. Karen tells them both to leave the women alone and kill each other quietly. Karen offers to fix the teddy bear and Monica claps. Erica walks in with Meg and tells the women about Bea’s escape and explains that any trouble caused because of it will not be tolerated. Meg asks Doreen about the teddy then looks at Monica and Noeline.
Mum and Noeline listen to the details of Bea’s escape on the radio. Judith-Anne tells Mum that they can’t let Bea stay at the flat. Mum tells her that Bea won’t hurt them. Judith-Anne tells her that Bea hasn’t been released, she is wanted by the police. Judith-Anne tells her to call the police and Bea appears telling her not too. Judith-Anne tells Bea that she doesn’t want Mum to go back to prison. Bea tells her to mind her own business. Mum tells Bea that she can stay.
Clara arrives for her trail with Steve and he tells her that they have to get her out on bail. Clara tells him that she is broke and has no friends or family to turn too and realises that she is going to prison.
Doreen tells the women that her Dad gave her the teddy as a present and was her only real friend at home, she goes on to explain that she never took it with her on a job but took it when she escaped with Franky because she didn’t want to leave it behind, she thinks that it understood her relationship with Franky.
Mum tells Judith-Anne that Bea is asleep and explains that she can’t send Bea away but will try and talk her into giving herself up. Judith-Anne tells her that she knows what will happen if she gets caught and should be thinking about herself. Mum tells her that everything will be fine. The phone rings and she answers it. Bea appears in the room. Jean asks her if everything is alright, Mum tells her that she is fine but missed her appointment with her and work because she wasn’t feeling well and slept in, Mum tells her that she will see her as soon as she is better and puts the phone down. Bea tells her that if she does go and see Jean, she had better not find out anything.
Meg walks into Jean’s office. Jean tells her about Mum and tells Meg not to go and see her. Meg asks her to talk to Noeline. The phone rings and Jean is told that Sid has come to see her. She puts the phone down and tells Meg that she hopes there are no more problems.
Vera is in her flat, looking over the money. She looks really upset.
Sid is in Jean’s office. He tells her to find another job for Lynn and tells her to tell Lynn. Sid tells her that she might ruin Geoff’s future. Jean tells Sid that she will let Lynn know and he leaves.
George arrives back at Vera’s flat and kisses her. She tells him about the visit from the police and tells him she had only met him a few times. George tells her that she must phone the police and turn him into the police to protect herself.
Later Vera does just as she has been told, telling the police he is downstairs in his office. George tells her that she did the right thing and then Vera asks him what will happen. George tells her that he might not get convicted just because of Anne’s letter. He tells Vera to take care and leaves.
The women are in the recroom. Lizzie comes in and tells the women that Clara has arrived. Karen walks in and gives Doreen her teddy back, which she has fixed. An officer brings Clara to the recroom and she introduces herself. Monica asks her about her charges. Clara tells them about the money she stole and the women are delighted about how much she stole.
Mum asks Bea about where she will go and how she will leave. Bea tells her that Judith-Anne can help out and Mum refuses. Judith-Anne protests when Mum asks Bea what she would like her to do. There is a knock at the door and Bea hides. Mum opens the door to Meg.
