PREVIOUSLY.....
Vicki tells Brumby that she'd better only have one more drink as she has to work that evening at 7:30 at a local factory. Brumby talks her into having one more and Cindy sneakily slips a pill into the drink while Vicki and Brumby aren't looking.
Janet, accompanied by two armed officers goes to the nearest security gate to talk to the women.
Janet (through megaphone): O'Leary, can you hear me?
Su comes round the corner with Chrissie, Kath and Jacko.
Su: You'd better not try anything. Not if you want to see those hostages alive again.
Janet: You know what'll happen to you if they come to any harm.
Su: So how can things get any worse here? No, we're prepared to do anything to get rid of that bitch Leach.
Kath: You must realise what she's like for heaven's sake.
Janet: OK so she's strict, but don't forget this is a prison. You are here to be punished.
Chrissie: How could we forget? Doesn't mean we have to put up with being bashed by screws though.
Janet: That is a very serious accusation. I hope you've got proof.
Su: We don't need proof. We know what she's like, and we want her out.
Suddenly a swarm of prisoners come round the corner and start shouting. "We want her out, we want her out."
Janet and the officers head backwards.
Janet is in the governor's office talking to the police on the phone. Finally they agree to come and sort the women out.
Janet puts the phone down and tells Cynthia that the police are coming.
Rodney is trying desperately to untie himself. Roo is laying next to him, very badly beaten.
Next door, Candy opens the hatch and talks to Mervin.
Candy: Don't worry Mervy, I won't let them hurt you. I'm going to let you out, and you're going to be very nice to me in return.
Candy slowly opens the door with a key, and goes over to Mervin. Suddenly Joyce, who has managed to free her hands, grabs Candy from behind with her hair. Candy screams.
Meg and Ann turn up at reception.
Marty: Mum! Mrs. Reynolds! What are you doing here?
Meg: Ann wanted to come and talk to the women. I tried to talk her out of it but she insisted.
Ann: Thank you Meg. Marty, I think I can get this resolved fairly quickly if I talk to the women.
Marty: I'm not so sure of that, there's a new leader now and she's totally taken over. I don't think she'll listen to reason.
Meg: What is it they want?
Marty: Miss. Leach's resignation.
Ann: Well in that case I share their grievances.
Sheila is in the isolation block and she lets herself in with a set of keys. She is shouting to Edwina that her time is up, in her hand she is holding a large piece of wood. Sheila slowly goes into one of the cells and stops suddenly. Edwina is lying dead on the floor, with her neck obviously broken.
Janet tells Cynthia that the police should be here soon, and she's going to have another talk with the women. She moves to the door, but suddenly it opens and the women start pouring into the governor's office. Some of them grab Janet and take her out into the corridor. Su looks at Cynthia across the desk and points a gun at her, and says "This is for my daughter you bitch!"...................

Episode 759
Cynthia: You'll never get away with this. You'll rot in here for the rest of your life.
Su: It will be worth it to kill you, you bitch.
Cynthia: You don't even know me. I don't even know who your daughter is, you've got the wrong person.
Su: Oh I've got the right person alright. Does the name Catherine Masters mean anything to you?
Cynthia looks shocked.
Su: Yeah that shut you up. She was 13 you bitch. 13, and you made sure she got herself hooked on smack.
Cynthia: I've never heard of her.
Su (getting really angry): You lying bitch!
Chrissie: Kill the bitch.
Cynthia: You haven't got a hope of ever getting your parole now Latham.
Chrissie: Just finish her off Su. Nobody will miss the stupid cow.
About 7 or 8 women are in the office shouting: "Kill her, kill her..."
Su (shouts): Shut up! OK then Leach, you're going to pay for wrecking her life.
Su lifts the gun up.
Cynthia: Wait. It wasn't me who pushed the drugs onto her, it was Sid.
Su: You've been selling them to her though, you've been seen.
Cynthia: She begged me to. I didn't want to. I felt sorry for the kid.
Chrissie: You felt sorry for her so you sold her smack. You lousy bitch.
Su: Shut up Chrissie.
Chrissie: Oh just finish her Su.
Su: I said shut up Chrissie. OK (turns to Cynthia), she's back living with her foster parents now, and I don't want to hear that she's been anywhere near any drugs again, or you'll be dead. have you got that?
Chrissie: You mean you're going to let her get away with it?
Su: No, I'm not, but if I kill her then I'll never see my daughter again.
Chrissie: What are you gonna do then?
Su: Cynthia's going to resign, aren't you Cynthia? Otherwise the department will get the tape that I've just been recording in my pocket. I think the police will be very interested to hear you admit to selling drugs to kids.
Chrissie: Nice one, Su.
Cynthia: You won't get rid of me that easily, and you'll all pay for this riot. I can promise you that.
Su: No Cynthia, you misunderstand. You're going to resign or a copy of the tape goes to the police, and another to the department. Have you any idea what they'll do to you if you end up inside.
Chrissie: 'Ere, maybe she'll end up in here. Ooh I hope so. 'Ere why don't we use the tape anyway Su?!
The prisoners start to get noisy again.
Meanwhile, Janet has got to reception and Ann approaches her. Some of the women are shouting through the gate.
Ann: I want to talk to the women. I think I can have this thing resolved if I speak to Kath Maxwell.
Janet: It's out of the question, they've got Cynthia now. I dread to think what they're doing to the poor woman.
Meg: That poor woman is the cause of all this. She's nothing more than a murderer herself.
Ann: That'll do Meg. (turns to Janet) OK then what do we do?
Janet: We wait for the police, they'll be here in a minute, and it's not your problem anyway - you should be at home resting.
Ann: I'm not going anywhere.
Janet: Fine, well just stay out of the way then.
Back in the governor's office, Su tells the other prisoners to be quiet, then she turns to Cynthia:
Su: Well, are you going to resign then, or are you prepared to go to jail?
Cynthia: OK Congratulations O'Leary, you win. I'll resign.
The women start to cheer.
Su: You've got to leave straight away though, or the deal's off.
Cynthia: I want that tape first.
Su: You don't think I'm letting you have the tape so we've got nothing on you, do you? You must think I'm really stupid.
Cynthia: I won't go back on my word.
Chrissie: That's a joke.
Brenda (background prisoner): She's a born liar that one.
Chrissie: Brenda's right, you can't trust her.
Su: I'm not about to. There's no way I'm giving her the tape.
Cynthia: How do I know you won't use it anyway?
Su: Oh I won't, so long as you come nowhere near Wentworth or my daughter ever again.
Cynthia gets up, and then picks a file off the desk. She passes it to Su.
Su: What's this?
Cynthia: Call it a goodbye present, you obviously hate pushers.
Su: Yeah, so.
Chrissie: 'Ere this is Amanda's file.
Cynthia: You might find it interesting reading.
At that, Cynthia walks out of the office and pushes past the women taunting her outside. Inside, Su's face turns from surprise to hatred as she reads Amanda's file!
Reception is in silence when Cynthia turns up and announces to Janet that she is leaving Wentworth for good. Meg and Ann look at each other in a mixture of amazement and delight.
Janet: I thought you weren't going to give in to them.
Cynthia: I'm not, I've been thinking of leaving the service for some time now. The bitches are all yours.
With that Cynthia walks out of Wentworth. Just then the police arrive.
Detective: I hear you've got a spot of bother.
Janet: The women are rioting. We need you lot to get them back to their cells by force if necessary.
Ann: Oh I think we can get them back to their cells easily enough now.
Detective: Are you the governor?
Meg: She is, but she's on sick leave.
Janet: Unless you're well enough to start back now.
Ann: Well that really depends on what terms you can offer me.
Janet: The same terms as before.
Ann: No no, that's not quite good enough. I want the freedom to run Wentworth as I see fit, without any interference from the department.
Janet: The new security measures were introduced for a reason. The women's actions prove this.
Ann: I know we need security, and I'm willing to go along with you for the most part.
Janet: I sense a but coming on.
Ann: I want to relax the internal security. All these extra security measures just serve to alienate the women and that's what leads to these riots.
Janet: OK I'll leave it to your discretion if you start back immediately, but the women must be punished.
Ann: Of course, but I want that left to my discretion also.
Janet: Very well. Is that it?
Ann: It most certainly is not. I want Meg back as my deputy and I want Joyce Pringle's transfer withdrawn.
Janet: Meg resigned of her own free will.
Ann: She was forced out and you know it.
Meg: Forget it Ann, I'm not begging to come back.
Janet: Very well, you can have all you want. Is there anything else you'd like?
Ann: I can't think of anything else at the moment.
Janet: Fine, you can have all those things, providing you can get the women back to their cells at once.
Ann: Consider it done.
Meg (whispers to Ann): You're not well enough to come back yet, you should still be in hospital.
Ann: I'm alright Meg. These women need me, I have to come back.
Su slings the gun on the governor's desk and the women start to walk down the corridor. She tells them that she wants everybody in the recroom at once. Then she pulls Chrissie to one side and warns her not to tell anybody about what she read in Amanda's file.
Chrissie: What are you gonna do then, let her off?
Su: I don't let anybody off. That bitch is the lowest of the low, and she's going to get what's coming to her - but in my own time.
Chrissie: Fair enough then. I won't say anything, but they all know something's up.
Su: Well I don't want them knowing the full facts and blowing it so the screws send her to isolation.
They reach the recroom and are met by a frantic Sheila.
Chrissie: What's up Sheila?
Sheila: Edwina's dead.
Su: What?! You didn't...?
Sheila: No. Well I was going to teach her a lesson but somebody beat me to it.
Su: Bloody hell, we've got to hide the body and make it look like she escaped.
Sheila: How are we supposed to hide her in here? The screws will be down here any minute.
Su: We'll just have to hold them off a bit longer. Damn, I left the gun in the governor's office, go back and get it would you Brenda?
Brenda: Why me?
Su: Just do as you're told, we haven't got time.
Brenda: Who put you in charge anyway?
Chrissie: Oh for God sake I'll go and get it.
Su (to Brenda): I'll deal with you later.
Chrissie goes back to the governor's office and is met by Marty, who is armed.
Marty: Looking for something, Latham?
Chrissie starts to run but he grabs her and she starts to struggle. Meg comes round the corner with Ann and a detective.
Meg: OK Marty, let her go.
He lets go and she goes running off.
Marty: I had her under control.
Meg: We've got to handle this carefully. We want the women to go back of their own free will.
Ann: Meg's right Marty. We mustn't give them any cause to turn nasty.
Joyce and Mervin are both free in solitary. Mervin is untying Pat while Joyce has hold of Candy. When Pat is free, Mervin goes next door and whispers to Rodney. He goes in and unties him. They look over at Roo, who is still badly beaten. Mervin says they'll get help for her but they must all try and get to reception. Candy escapes from Joyce and goes running off.
Chrissie catches up with Su and tells her that the police are in. Su decides that the best bet would be to get all the women in the recroom and nobody say a word to the police.
Su: They can't pin the murder on anyone if nobody talks.
Sheila: They'll pin it on me for sure. They know I was out to finish her.
Su: Well if that happens then I'll find out who done it myself and I'll make sure they talk.
Joyce, Mervin, Pat and Rodney are all cautiously making their way through the corridors when they hear voices. Rodney tells them to hide in the cell which they are just passing. As they are crouched behind the door, Joyce says in astonishment: "That's Mrs. Reynolds' voice".
Rodney: Don't be silly, it can't be, she's in hospital.
Pat: It is you know, and Mrs. Morris too.
Rodney: Oh you're hearing things.
Joyce walks out of the cell and sees Ann, Meg, Marty and the detective.
Ann: Joyce!!
Joyce (in tears now): Oh thank God.
The others come out of the cell and Rodney smugly says: "I thought that was your voice I heard Mrs. Reynolds."
Joyce and Pat look at each other, shaking their heads.
Ann: Where are all the women?
Pat: We've no idea governor. They do seem very quiet though.
Ann: Yes - too quiet!
Meg: Perhaps we should all stay together until we know what's going on.
Ann: Yes, good idea. We'll try the recreation room first, but please everybody, be careful.
Mervin: Oh, Roo Morgan needs medical attention, she's been very badly beaten.
Meg: Where is she?
Mervin: In one of the solitary cells. That's where they locked us too.
Meg: I'll go and phone for an ambulance.
Joyce: Oh be careful Meg.
Meg: I'll be alright, we've just come from that way.
The women are all sat quietly in the recroom. Not a sound can be heard when Ann and the others enter. Ann whispers to the detective: "I don't like this."
Detective Simons: Oh I don't think they'll cause you any more trouble.
Ann (to the women): Right ladies. As you probably know, Miss Leach has decided to resign from her post as governor, so therefore I shall be returning sooner than I expected.
The silence breaks and there is an almighty cheer from all the women.
Ann (shouts): Quiet!! Obviously you will all have to be punished for the riot and the taking of hostages. Not to mention the violence towards fellow prisoners.
Suddenly a policeman enters the room and whispers to Ann and the other detective. Ann's face drops.
Ann: OK I want you all back in your cells immediately. The police want to interview you all.
The women file out and Meg enters.
Meg: What's happened?
Ann: There's been a murder!
Ann, Meg, Janet and the detective are all in the governor's office.
Ann: Everyone, this is Detective Simons. He'll be leading the murder investigation.
Detective Simons: We shall want to interview all of the women involved in the riot. Is it OK to use this office?
Ann: Yes, that will be alright. Who do you want to see first?
Detective Simons: Sheila Blake is the obvious suspect. She's in here for attempting to murder Steele isn't she?
Ann: Yes. But it could have been any of them, Steele wasn't very popular to say the least.
Janet: Are the women all locked in their cells?
Meg: Yes.
Janet: Well I suggest you keep them all there as punishment for a week or more.
Ann: I only agreed to return straight away if I could run the prison my own way, or are you going back on your word?
Janet: No of course not. Oh very well, I might as well go then if I'm not needed any more.
Ann: That might be the best thing.
Janet: OK, well I'll probably see you tomorrow then. Good day. Janet leaves.
Detective Simons: Well done, I couldn't have done better myself.
Ann and Meg smile to each other.
Meg: I'll go and fetch Blake shall I?
Ann: Yes, thank you Meg.
Kath and Amanda are lying on their beds.
Amanda: What do you make of Su, Kath?
Kath: She seems OK, and she did get rid of Cynthia for us so she can't be that bad.
Amanda: I know, but I don't like the way she just came in and took over as top dog.
Kath: She's welcome to it as far as I'm concerned. We need a top dog with muscle to take on Roo, and Su's got plenty of that.
Amanda: Well I think she's up herself, she looked at me like I was scum when we were in the recroom.
Kath: Oh for heaven's sake, you're just being paranoid now.
Amanda: Yeah maybe. (looks thoughtful).
The police interview Sheila and come down quite heavy on her. She ends up telling them that she didn't kill the bitch but she wishes she had. They send her back to her cell.
Brumby and Cindy are sat around drinking and laughing when Vicki comes in.
Brumby: How'd ya go Vick?
Vicki: The bloody bastard sacked me. He wouldn't even listen.
Cindy: Ah well, there's other jobs!
Vicki: Yeah, well there's not many that want to employ ex-crims is there? And keep your bloody hands off my booze would ya. (grabs bottle off her, and pours herself one).
Cindy: You're touchy aren't you?
Vicki: Yeah I am. I don't like you, I'm only letting you stay here at all cos of Brumby. But if you keep it up then you'll be out, got it?
Cindy: Yeah whatever.
Brumby: Leave it Cind. What are you gonna do now Vick? Why don't you come in on the robbery with us? You won't need to work then.
Vicki: Forget it, I'll find another job.
Cindy: I thought you said nobody wanted to employ ex-crims.
Vicki: I said I'd find one.
Brumby: Cindy's right though, nobody wants to employ us, we're just scum. And you won't get caught, you said it was foolproof.
Vicki is silent for a minute, then she says: "Oh bugger it, OK I'm in.
The police tell Ann that they are getting nowhere with the women and it could have been any one of them.
Ann: You don't think it was Blake then?
Detective Simons: No. She seemed genuinely annoyed that someone else got in before her. I think she would have done it though, if somebody else hadn't got in first.
Ann: So are you leaving it like that then?
Detective Simons: If anything else comes up we'll let you know, but I don't see any point in wasting your time further at the moment. I'm sure you've got plenty to sort out.
Ann: Yes, you could say that.
The detective goes and Ann gets on the phone.
Ann: Meg, could you have all the women assembled in the recroom please.
Suddenly the door can be heard opening, and Ann's face drops.
Ann: Something's just come up Meg. I'll be down in a moment.
She puts the phone down and we see that the person who has just come in is Cynthia.
Ann: What do you want?
Cynthia: Oh don't worry I'm not after my job back, you can keep your prison. I've just come to collect a couple of my things.
Ann: It never was your job. You were only standing in because you tried to have me killed, and if I can ever prove it then I'll have you charged with attempted murder.
Cynthia: That's a very serious accusation governor, I'm really hurt by that.
Ann: Oh just get what you want and get out.
Cynthia sneakily looks inside one of the files on the desk while she collects a pot-plant and some books.
Cynthia: Anyway you should be grateful governor. Other people who have crossed me haven't got off so lightly.
She picks up her things and gets out saying: "See you governor.", and chuckling. Ann is left with a cold look on her face.
Vicki's mate Adrian turns up at her house and asks her what she wanted to see him about. Vicki introduces Brumby and Cindy, and he immediately recognises them from the news. They tell him they want in on the robbery at his security firm and he tells them it will have to be a week Friday as that is when the most money is on site. Vicki isn't keen on them staying that long but reluctantly agrees.
Ann talks to the women in the recroom and tells them that they should be punished severely for the riot, but as they have been without privileges for so long that she's keen to get back to normal - so their punishment will be loss of buyup for one further week. She tells them that will be all and leaves the recroom. The women all start cheering Su.
Meg follows Ann in the corridor and says she didn't expect her to be so lenient. Ann tells Meg that Cynthia was just in her office and more or less admitted to trying to have her killed. She then says she doesn't blame the women for what they did. Meg is horrified and tells Ann she should call the police, but Ann says they wouldn't be able to do anything without proof.
Ann: One things for sure Meg. There's no way I'll ever allow her to return to Wentworth!
The women are still cheering Su in the recroom when Roo is brought in from the hospital by a background officer. All goes quiet for a minute, then Roo goes and sits in the corner and everybody laughs and taunts her.
Detective Simons visits Joyce at home and asks her and Mervin if they saw anything suspicious.
Joyce: Well no, we were locked up most of the time you know.
Detective Simons: Well did Sheila Blake say anything, or did she have anybody she was particularly close to within the prison?
Joyce: Well there was only really her brother Trigger, he's a workman there helping with the extensions. I don't know his real name I'm afraid.
Detective Simons: That's OK, you've been very helpful.
He goes and Joyce turns to Mervin.
Joyce: Oh dear, I hope I haven't said the wrong thing.
Mervin: I'm sure you haven't love.
The police turn up at Trigger's house. He opens the door.
Trigger: I haven't done nothin'.
Detective Simons: That will be for us to decide. You were working at Wentworth 2 days ago weren't you?
Trigger: Yes I was, but we were all told to go home when the riot started.
Detective Simons: Were you working anywhere near the isolation wing at all that day?
Trigger: No. I was nowhere near there officer. Why, has something happened?
Detective Simons: Yes, a woman was murdered there.
Trigger: Oh that's dreadful. Well I'll let you know if I hear anything.
Detective Simons: OK thank you, that will be all for now. We might need to speak to you again though, so don't skip the country.
The police leave and Trigger stands on the corner looking thoughtful.
Suddenly we see a flashback and Trigger is collecting his tools while the riot alarm is sounding. He hides round the corner while a group of women come around the corner. He sees that one of them has dropped some keys, then he picks them up and rushes to the isolation cell where he opens the gate. Next we see him arguing with Edwina and saying it's her fault Sheila's inside. Edwina tells him to leave her alone and he puts his arm around her neck and breaks it. She falls to the floor and he realises what he's done, then he goes out of isolation - locking the door behind him.
Marty is alone in his flat when Stu returns and tells him he's got some great news for him.
Marty: Great, I could do with some good news for a change.
Stu: Well, how do you fancy being my best man?
Marty's face drops. "What?!"
Stu: Me and Maggie are getting married. I asked her and she said yes. Isn't that great?
Marty (sulkily): Yeah great, you've just made my day.
Marty gets up and goes to the kitchen for a drink.
Stu: What the hell is your problem mate? You've been down on her from the start.
Marty: Forget it.
Stu: No I won't forget it. If you can't accept our relationship then you can just get out.
Marty: You're throwing me out?
Stu: That's right. Collect your things and go.
Marty looks horrified.
Rodney enters the laundry and tells the women that they'll all pay for taking him hostage and making him look a fool. Su is on the press.
Su: Oh, I don't think you needed any help in that department. (The women start to laugh).
Rodney: Very funny.
Su: No it's true. Anyway we wouldn't let little things like that concern us.
The women all laugh out loud and Rodney gets embarrassed and walks out muttering "I'll get you, you bitches" under his breath.
Su: God he's such a dawk.
Kath (laughing): You've got him sussed out already.
Amanda: Yeah he's a nerd.
Su: Shut up.
Amanda: Why should I?
Su: Because I said so.
Amanda: What have I done?
Su: Oh you'll find out soon enough, along with the rest of the prison.
Amanda looks worried.
Marty goes to see Spike and tells her that she can't marry Stu.
Spike: Oh for God sake can't you just leave it Marty. I'm marrying him and that's that.
Marty: But I love you Margaret.
Spike: Well I don't love you. Just get out of my life and stop pestering me.
Marty: Did sleeping with me mean nothing to you then?
Spike: Yes, it meant nothing. Now just go home to mummy. She slams the door in his face and he is left looking distraught.
Ann and Meg are in reception. Ann is about to go home.
Ann: I tried to persude him to come back but I think he's had enough of Wentworth. Besides, his daughter's staying with him at the moment so he probably just wants to spend time with her at the moment.
Meg: Well I hope he comes back. I like Wally.
Ann: Me too. Anyway, goodnight Meg.
As Ann leaves she walks into an old face - Greg Miller! They apologise to each other, and as they don't know each other Ann leaves.
Greg: Well at least there's still one familiar face here.
Meg looks up and shouts: "Greg!"
Greg: How are you Meg? They hug.
Vicki's mate Adrian is working nights with another bloke called Ollie. They are chatting about cars and women when Adrian slips a pill into Ollie's coffee.
A girl of about 14 is walking down the road on her way home from school. Suddenly a car screeches to a halt, with a man driving. The passenger door opens and Cynthia is sat there.
Cynthia: Hello Catherine. How's it going?
Catherine: I don't want anything from you, I'm off that stuff now.
Cynthia: That's not very nice is it? I've got a message from your mum.
Catherine: What message? I'm going home now anyway.
Cynthia: Not your foster mum. Your real mother - Susan O'Leary.
Catherine: You know Su? How is she?
Cynthia: Not too good I'm afraid. You've got to come with me now. We'll take you to see her.
Catherine: I don't know. I'll get in trouble if I'm late.
Cynthia jumps out of the car and grabs her.
Cynthia: You haven't got a choice love.
Catherine screams and Cynthia pulls her, kicking and screaming, into the car. Then she says: "Drive on Sid".
Adrian checks that Ollie is asleep and then walks over to the far fence outside, where Vicki, Brumby and Cindy are waiting.
Adrian: Did you bring the fence-cutters? Good.
He starts to cut through the fence to make it look like an outside job. Then the girls get in and he takes them to where the money is. They break into the box with a crowbar and Cindy can't stop touching the money. Adrian grabs it off her.
Adrian: There's no time for that. Ollie could wake up at any time. Quick take it all and get out.
The 3 girls go outside and run towards the fence and are nearly there when Ollie appears and shouts over to them.
Brumby: Quick, let's get out of here.
Adrian makes out to Ollie that he was about to go after them.
Ollie: Call the police, I'll handle this.
He pulls out a gun and tells them to give themselves up. Then he shoots and a scream is heard.
The women are in the recroom watching the TV when a news report comes on: "A woman has been shot dead during a robbery at a security company......................."
