PREVIOUSLY.........

Cynthia cautiously enters the old warehouse. There are no other buildings around for mile, it really is a deserted spot. A rat runs past Cynthia and she jumps.

Cynthia (whispers): Sid, are you there? How did you get out?

Su suddenly appears from behind the door and shuts the door on them both. Cynthia looks almost pleased to see her.

Cynthia: Well O'Leary, the uniform really suits you, I suppose you've come to avenge your slut of a daughter.

Su: You bitch!
She pushes Cynthia to the ground.

Cynthia: Face it O'Leary. She begged us for the drugs, and she begged Sid to screw her!

Su picks up an old can she has been hiding, and chucks the contents over Cynthia.
Cynthia looks quite nervous now, as she realises it is petrol, and gets up and tries to get out of the door. Su gets a match out of her pocket and lights it. Cynthia tells Su she'll never get away with it.

Su: Who's ever going to know it was me? As far as everyone else is concerned I've been in jail the whole time.

Cynthia: You must have had some help.

Su: Ah yes, but I'm sure Mrs. Pringle won't say anything and incriminate herself.

Cynthia: You don't expect me to believe that.

Su: She hates you as much as I do, after what your mate done to Mervin.

The first match goes out and Su lights another one.

Cynthia: Please I'm begging you. I'll do anything.

Su: Too little, too late.

Su throws the match onto Cynthia and she starts running around in a ball of flames, soon the whole warehouse is on fire. Su gets out and bolts the door behind her, then she listens to the screams for a minute before running off..........

EPISODE 764

Joyce looks at her watch and goes to reception, telling Meg that she's not feeling well and is going home.

Meg: Yes of course, I'll let Mrs. Reynolds know.

Joyce nods and leaves the building.

Wendy: Poor Joyce. It's going to take her some time to get over Mervin's death.

Meg: Yes.

Joyce sees Su heading towards the fence and starts talking to the Gate Guard to keep him occupied.

Gate Guard: Hello Joyce. Leaving early?

Joyce: Yes.

Gate Guard: Terrible business about Mervin.

Joyce breaks down in tears and falls into his arms. He starts to comfort her as Su sneaks through in her officers' uniform. The gate guard sees her walking towards the prison and asks Joyce who it was.

Joyce: Oh her, that's a new officer. I'm sorry I've got to go.

Gate Guard: Righto. Now you take it easy.

Joyce: Yes bye.

Joyce takes one look back at Su, who has dived behind the skip to get changed, then she leaves the prison.

Su enters the kitchen, where four background prisoners look surprised to see her.

Su: That bloody Joyce made me clean up outside, but I'm back now.

Su starts peeling potatoes and suddenly looks serious.

Grandma enters the laundry, all wet, and announces to Roo and Brenda that they'll be sorry for what they did.

Kath: You didn't beat up an old lady? That's dispicable.

Brenda: She ain't no lady.

Kath: You two are disgusting, you both make me sick.

Roo: Are you looking for some of the same. We never beat her up, we just taught her a bit of a lesson that's all.

Brenda: Yeah, so keep your nose out, Maxwell. At least we never killed no kid.

Sheila: Are you alright Grandma?

Grandma: Rack off! I don't need no sympathy from the likes of you two.

Sheila: We were only trying to be nice for Gods sake.

Grandma: Well I don't need it.

Sheila: Suit yourself.

Marty enters and asks Grandma why she's wet.

Grandma: I decided to take a shower with me clothes on - what do you reckon?

Marty: Well you'd better go and get dried off.

Grandma: I'm telling you lot, this prison is in for a shock. You're all going to be sorry you ever heard of me.

With that she leaves the laundry.

Ann is talking to Karen in her office and explains to her that Rodney has laid an assault charge, so she may have to serve a couple of months even if she gets off the manslaughter charge. Karen just shrugs her shoulders. Pat Slattery is also present.

Ann: You will be able to attend Greg's funeral though, which will be held tomorrow afternoon.

Karen: Thanks Mrs. Reynolds. Can I go now?

Ann: Yes. Could you take her to the three bed dorm with Latham and Blake please Mrs. Slattery?

Pat: Yes Mrs. Reynolds.

Karen: No. I want to go back to the solitary block.

Ann: I don't really think it's a good idea for you to be on your own at the moment.

Karen: Please Mrs. Reynolds, just give me time to get my head together.

Ann: Very well, but only until after the funeral.

Karen: Thank you.

Pat looks at Ann in concern as she escorts Karen out.
Ann gets on the phone and asks for Rodney to be sent to her office immediately.

Joyce gets to her house and notices a light on and sees a shadow through the window. She cautiously moves towards the door and picks up a brick. She quietly opens the door and hears somebody coming towards her, she is about to hit him with the brick when he grabs her arm and shouts "Mum!" Joyce realises it is her son Jim and bursts out crying. She drops the brick and falls into his arms, sobbing.

Ann hears a knock on her office door and shouts for them to come in. Rodney enters.

Rodney: You wanted to see me Mrs. Reynolds?

Ann: Yes. Sit down please.

Rodney: I'd rather stand if you don't mind.

Ann
(impatiently): Very well. Now about this assault charge....

Rodney: I've already made out the report, and with all due respect governor, I don't appreciate you keep having a go at me about it. I was the one who was assaulted after all.

Ann: With no provokacation at all I suppose?

Rodney: If you're suggesting I asked for it then you'd better have some proof.

Ann
(raises her voice): Do you realise what that woman has been through in the last few days? She's been held hostage, her husband has been shot dead and now she's back in prison again....

Rodney: For killing a policeman.

Ann:....and to top it all, she gets provoked into hitting you, something which I can quite understand at this moment.

Rodney: Is that all governor?

Ann: Yes. Get out.

Rodney: Fine! It's so nice to know the officers can count on their governor's support when they are assaulted by the inmates.

With that he leaves the office, slamming the door behind him. Ann throws a file across the room in anger.

Meg and Tristian are at a restaurant, and they discuss Greg, Karen, Ann, the prison, the hostage situation, Marty and finally each other. Then Tristian asks Meg if he can see her again. She accepts and they smile at each other. Then Tristian asks her if she'll away for the weekend with him. She says she'll think about it.

At breakfast the next morning, Roo is pushing her way to the front of the queue.

Sheila: Can't you wait your turn?

Roo: Top dog gets to go first. It's the rules.

Suddenly Su enters.

Su: In that case get to the back Morgan.

Roo: Rack off O'Leary, we had a deal.

Su goes up to Roo and sends her flying across the dining room, before saying: "All deals are off". Pat Slattery comes over.

Pat: Get up Morgan. Now what happened?

Su: Roo just tripped, didn't you Roo.

Roo: Yeah. I tripped over Su's foot.

Pat: Well get to the back of the queue and be careful.

Roo: Yes Miss.

She goes to the back, whispering to Su: "You'll get yours you great dyke"

Su: You and who's army?

Sheila: Great to see you back Su.

Kath: That goes double for me.

Meg is talking to Wendy on the reception desk when a familiar face walks in - Erica Davidson!

Meg (in surprise): Erica!

Erica: Hello Meg, hello Wendy.

Meg: Well I must say you're looking well. What brings you round here?

Erica: I heard on the news about what happened, and I decided to come back for Greg's funeral. How's Karen holding up, I must go round to see her?

Meg looks at Wendy, and Erica senses something is up, asking: "What is it?"

Roo is sitting on a table with Amanda, Brenda and a background heavy.

Roo: I'm going to show that bitch that she doesn't mess with me and get away with it.

Amanda: But what are you going to do to her?

Roo: Don''t you mean we? You're not backing out on me now, not if you want to stay in one piece anyway.

Amanda: Of course not, I'll do what you say.

Brenda: Me too.

Roo: Wise decision girls. That bitch is going to have a very nasty accident

Su is sat with Kath, Sheila and Chrissie.

Chrissie: Well she'll have to wait, that bastard Adams is top of my list at the moment.

Su: Oh don't worry, we'll get him too. But first you have to help me fix Morgan once and for all. Are you all in on it?

Sheila: Sure Su.

Kath: You can count on me too.

Su: Chrissie?

Chrissie: Oh alright, what have I got to lose. But Adams is next!

Su goes up to Roo's table.

Roo: What do you want?

Su: A fight, in exercise period this afternoon.

Roo: You're on.

Su: Winner gets to be top dog.

Roo: What about the loser?

Su: They have to be the winner's slave for a week, and do anything they ask them to do. And I mean anything!

Roo: You've got a deal. Prepare to be humiliated.

Erica is now sat with Meg and Ann in the staffroom.

Erica: Poor Karen. Just when things were working out for her, she's back to square one.

Ann: Yes. I think she could get off the manslaughter charge though. It's just this damned charge from Rodney.

Erica: Yes, he does sound rather unpleasant.

Suddenly Rodney enters and starts making a coffee.

Rodney: I suppose you were all talking about me. Well you're not going to drive me out you know, I'm here to stay.

Meg: More's the pity.

Ann: Mrs. Davidson, this is Rodney Adams. Rodney, Mrs. Davidson.

Erica: Pleased to meet you Mr. Adams.

Rodney: I suppose you're another of those do-gooders.

Meg: Actually Mrs. Davidson was governor of Wentworth before Mrs. Reynolds.

Rodney: Oh.... Right.... Well I'd better get back to it, we haven't all got time to sit around chatting you know.

He leaves and they all start laughing.

Erica: I think that came as a bit of a shock to him.

Meg: I'm really starting to dislike that man.

Ann: Yes, well.

Meg: What are you doing for work at the moment Erica?

Erica: Well actually I wasn't going to tell you this yet, but I've applied for the governorship of Helmslough.

Ann: Oh I'd heard that position was vacant again. I hope you get it.

Meg: Yes. The best of luck.

Erica: Thank you. I've never really been happy doing anything else, so I'm banking on getting this job really.

Jim Barry is trying to talk Joyce into giving up her job at the prison and coming to live with him. She says she'll think about it.

Greg is being buried into the ground, Karen is there and starts to cry as he is lowered. Erica comforts her, and so does Meg. Ann, Wendy, Marty and Tristian are also there. Erica notices Meg is close to Tristian, and gives a slight smile. On the way out, Meg tells Tristian that she will go away with him for the weekend.

All of the women are outside, supervised by Pat Slattery and Rodney. Su is talking to her mates, and Roo to hers. Su nods to Roo and then to a background heavy, who throws the ball over to Rodney and it hits him in the stomach. He bowls over in pain. While Pat is seeing to him, a crowd of women surround them both so neither of them can move.

Su: Right this is it.

Roo: Let's go.

They move to the back of the garden shed, with a crowd of women surrounding them. Then they get to fight. Su gets a couple of punches in first, before Roo tries to kick Su, but Su grabs her leg and pushes her to the ground. Roo gets up and pulls a knife out of her pocket.

Chrissie: Hey that's not fair, you can't use weapons.

Roo: There was nothing in the rules about that.

She waves the knife at Su's face. Sheila chucks her a spade and Su knocks the knife out of Roo's hand - nobody sees a mystery hand picking it up and putting it in their pocket!

Roo: You bitch, you broke my hand.

Su: Are you ready to surrender?

Roo: Piss off.

Su chucks the spade down and they start to fight properly again.

Brenda: Come on Roo, you can fix her.

Sheila: Shut up Brenda. Just you wait till this is over, then you'll be sorry.

Brenda: Get stuffed Blake.

Roo gets a couple of punches in and then Su loses her rag and knocks Roo to the ground, kicking her and telling her that's for her daughter. Eventually Roo surrenders and Su backs off. The women all make their way back to the yard as the other women come away from Rodney and Pat. Rodney is okay now but is threatening to put the woman in solitary if she does it again. Pat notices that Roo is covered in blood.

Pat: What happened to you Morgan?

Su: Oh, she fell over, didn't you Roo?

Pat: I didn't ask you O'Leary.

Roo: Well she's right, so just leave me alone okay.

Pat: Well suit yourself.

After she's gone, Su tells Roo to meet her in her cell before showers in the morning to start her punishment.

Karen is brought back to Wentworth by Meg and Ann, and waiting for her is Inspector Grace. He tells her he's managed to get the charges dropped, but she can't go until the charges against Rodney have been sorted out.

Meg takes Karen to the rec-room where she is greeted by the other women.

Chrissie: I heard what happened Karen. I'm really sorry.

Su: yeah that goes for all of us. You should get off though.

Karen: The charges have been dropped already.

Chrissie: Ay? Well why are you still here then?

Sheila: Yeah, they should have let you go.

Karen: I pushed Mr. Adams, and he's charging me with assault.

Su: That bastard.

Karen: What does it matter, I've got nobody to get out for now anyway.

Su: Well he's gone too far this time, and he's not going to get away with it.

Joyce gets her Wentworth jacket on and tells Jim that she has to get back to Wentworth, as there's something important she has to do.

Kath is in the interview room when Rodney brings a visitor in.

Rodney: You've got five minutes.

The visitor introduces herself as Jeanette Watson.

Kath: Oh you and your husband are looking after Merle? How is she, I haven't heard from her in ages?

Jeanette: I'm afraid I have some bad news. I came to see you as she was always talking about you.

Kath: You talk about her in the past tense. She is alright isn't she?

Jeanette: Well that's just it, we don't know. She's run away.

Kath: Run away! Well have you called the police?

Jeanette: Yes, but because she's on parole she could end up back in here if she doesn't come home.

Kath: Well what happened?

Jeanette: We had to tell her off for hitting little Carly. That's our daughter, she's eight.

Kath: But Merle loves kids. I can't believe she's hit her.

Jeanette: She didn't. We found out afterwards that Carly made it up because Merle wouldn't let her read her comic. By then it was too late though.

Kath: Oh my God.

Jeanette: Have you any idea where she might be?

Kath: No none. I wouldn't be surprised if she turned up here to see me though. I'll let you know if she does.

Rodney: Time's up.

Kath: Oh for heaven's sake Rodney.

Rodney: I said time's up, and it's Mr. Adams.

Jeanette says her thank you's to Kath and leaves Kath looking worried.

Roo walks into the laundry and tries to talk to Brenda and Amanda, but they walk away from her.

Su: Ha! Looks like you're on your own now Rooey!

Roo: Oh rack off the lot of you.

Su: I've got some really good jobs lined up for you tomorrow.

Pat Slattery enters and takes Chrissie off to see the V.J.

Sheila: What do you reckon she'll get?

Su: They'll probably throw the book at her. I just hope she keeps her mouth shut about Catherine.

Rodney is walking Kath back to the main prison.

Rodney: I knew that half-wit wouldn't last long on the outside.

Kath: You really are the vilest person I've ever had the misfortune to meet

She walks off and Rodney shouts: "She'll soon be back inside where she belongs".

Chrissie storms into the laundry, with Pat behind her.

Su: What did you get?

Chrissie: An extra bloody year, and that's on top of my original sentence. I'm going to kill that Adams bastard.

Pat: That sort of talk won't get you anywhere Latham.

Chrissie: Well what do you expect me to do. Because of him, by the time I get out Elizabeth will be twelve. She won't want to know me by then.

Su: What did Karen get?

Chrissie: Two months, and that's all that bastard's fault too.

Su: Don't worry, he'll get his.

Pat looks.

Meg is sat in the staffroom with Ann, reading the paper, when she suddenly blurts out: "I don't believe it!"

Ann: What is it?

Meg: You remember Lizzie Birdsworth who used to be in here?

Ann
(laughs): How could I forget her?

Meg: She died on tuesday in her sleep. Her family were by her bedside.

Ann: Oh no. It seems to be one after the other lately.

Meg: Poor old Lizzie. She used to get into all sorts of scrapes, but she was quite harmless really.

Ann: Do you think we should tell the women.

Meg: I think we should. There's quite a few that knew her.

Ann: I know its not much consolation, but at least she had a few years on the outside with her family.

Meg: Yes. Do you think I'd be able to go to the funeral, it's in three days time?

Ann: Yes, that should be alright. I'd like to go myself.

Meg: Thank you. I'd better phone a few people and let them know, if they don't already.

Rodney is walking past a cell when he is suddenly stabbed in the back with the knife that Roo used during the fight. He falls to the floor. We don't see the person who stabbed him.

Joyce is talking to Su in the corner of the recroom and tells her that she's going to have to tell the truth. Su says she mustn't. Suddenly Ann appears in the room and says sternly: "The truth about what?" Joyce looks distraught and Su buries her head in her hands............................
