PREVIOUSLY.......................................

Su is in the interview room with Inspector Grace.

Su: You're wasting your time Gracey. I don't know anything about Sheila's murder, and you can't prove a thing.

Grace: Oh, I wouldn't get too confident. Maybe you should pick associates who don't break down under questioning.

Su
(confused): I don't know what you're going on about.

Grace: Well Joyce Pringle isn't the hardest nut to crack. She told me how she helped you escape so you could fix Leach.

Su: Bull!

Grace: It's your neck, but if you tell your side of the story it could go easier on you.

Su: You know what she did to my daughter.

Grace: So you took the law into your own hands and killed her.

Su: Well wouldn't you have done the same?

Grace: It doesn't matter what I'd do, you've just admitted to killing someone for revenge.

Su: Well if Joyce had kept her mouth shut.

Grace: Joyce?

Su: Yeah, you said she told you everything.

Grace gets up to go.

Grace: Did I say that? I really must learn not to tell lies.

Su: You bastard.

Grace: Now I have a full confession out of you, I'll easily get one out of Pringle. You'll be charged with murder and Pringle will be charged with accessory to murder.

He is escorted out of the door by a background officer.

Grace: Oh, don't leave the country, I'll be needing to speak with you again.

He leaves and Su chucks a chair across the room in anger......................................................................

EPISODE 767

Su walks into the laundry and pushes Ronnie off the press. Then she pulls the press down with a mighty force.

Amanda: Are you alright love?

Su: No, I'm not alright. Thanks to that bitch Sheila I'll never get out of this hole.

Chrissie: Sheila? But I thought she was dead.

Su: Yeah, lucky for her. I'd kill her myself if she wasn't.

Amanda: She's really screwed things up for you eh?

Su: Not just me. Joyce Pringle too.

Chrissie: You mean she's going to end up in 'ere too?

Su nods.

Kath: They wouldn't put here in here with us. The Freak was transferred straight away.

Chrissie: That's cos they know we all hate her guts and she wouldn't have lasted five minutes. They put Mrs. Morris in here.

Amanda: You mean Mrs. Morris was in here as a prisoner? I can't imagine she'd ever committed a crime in her life.

Chrissie: Yeah. Only for a couple of days though, she stood up for Judy in court when Margo hid at the halfway house. Jude would have ended up back inside if it hadn't been for her. Turns out she needn't have bothered, cos Jude ended up back in here anyway for killing Hazel Kent.

Kath
(shocked): You mean Judy actually murdered someone?

Cindy: Look who's talking.

Kath scowls at her.

Chrissie: Nah, it was a mercy killing. Hazel was in so much pain, a bit like your daughter.... Oh, I'm sorry Kath.

Kath: That's alright. It's still painful but I don't regret what I did for Linda.

Cindy: You wouldn't.

Su: Shut up Cindy.

Cindy
(sarcastically): Ooh, the top dog has spoken.

Su goes over to her, Cindy holds a couple of sheets up in defence.

Su: Yeah I have, and I'm in no mood for your shit today. Got it?

Su goes back to the press and Cindy just grins.

Su: And wipe that stupid grin off your face.

Amanda
(to Cindy): Why don't you go and do a pick up?

Amanda gives Cindy a nod as she says this, as if to say "Go and see how many orders for drugs you can get".

Cindy: yeah why not. At least it will get me away from you lot.

She takes the laundry basket and goes off.

Kath: She's got a real chip on her shoulder, that one.

Su: Yeah well she'd better get over it or she'll find sharing a cell with me a very unpleasant experience.

Kath and Amanda are in their cell after lock-up.

Amanda: Do you think Roo will come back to this block?

Kath: I doubt it. She knows we'll be out to get her after doing all the stabbings, although we might forgive her for stabbing Rodney.

Amanda: You really don't like him do you?

Kath: He's a bastard. Don't you have anything to do with him.

Amanda: Oh I wouldn't. He's tried it on a few times but I have to tell him to get stuffed.

Kath: Well just watch him, he's a real snake.

Amanda: Do you think you'll get your parole Kath?

Kath: God I hope so. I've had it with this dump. Besides, I don't know what will happen to Merle if I don't.

Amanda: I wish it was me getting out. I'm going to be stuck in here for years.

Kath: Isn't there any way of proving you were set up?

Amanda: Not if I like living. No, I'm just going to have to wear it I'm afraid.

Amanda turns her back on Kath and smiles slyly.

Meg and Tristian are talking over the breakfast table. Meg is concerned that they won't be ready to get married in 2 weeks.

Meg: There's just so much going on at Wentworth at the moment that I don't see how we're going to do it.

Tristian: Just relax and leave it all to me.

Meg: Relax? You must be joking. Oh, what did the department have to get rid of Ann for, she was the best governor Wentworth ever had.

Tristian: Don't let Erica catch you saying that, or you'll have a full scale riot on your hands.

Meg: It was only a figure of speech. I just hope the two of them can get on at the wedding.

Marty comes downstairs at this point.

Meg: Oh morning Marty. Would you like a cuppa?

Marty: Yes please. It'll have to be quick though as I'm due in work soon.

Meg: Yes, I'd better get a move on too.

Marty: Do you think Rodney will turn up today?

Meg: For his sake he'd better. Though he'd better have a good excuse for storming out yesterday.

Tristian: Did your mother tell you about the wedding in 2 weeks Marty?

Marty: Yes she did, and I'm delighted for both of you. You deserve some happiness mum.

Meg: Are you sure you don't mind sharing your room with Tristian's son Adrian for a few days?

Marty: No that's fine. I'm sure we'll have plenty of navy stories to share with each other.

Tristian: Actually I just found out he'll be coming home a bit earlier than expected. Will that be OK Meg?

Meg: Yes fine. It will be nice for the two of you to catch up for a while. So long as he doesn't bring girls home every night.

Marty: He can bring some back for me if he likes.

Tristian: I bet you have the girls beating at your door.

Marty: You must be joking. No there's been nobody since Spike.

Meg: Yes..well, come on we'll be late if we don't go now.

Tristian: Yeah, you don't want that Walsh dragon breathing fire down your neck.

Meg: No. I think Wentworth's going to be hotting up enough over the next few weeks.

Judy and Charlotte are also having breakfast. Judy is concerned that Charlotte has been very quiet.

Judy: Are you sure you're alright love? You've hardly touched your eggs.

Charlotte: Yeah I'm fine. I just don't fancy them that's all.

Judy
(chuckles): Must've been the way I cooked them.

Charlotte gets up and puts her coat on.

Judy: Are you going out?

Charlotte: Yes, I've got things to do in the office.

Judy: Well if you hang on I'll drive you.

Charlotte: No it's alright. I er... the walk will probably do me good.

Charlotte goes out leaving Judy looking worried. Helen comes in at this point.

Helen: Has Charlotte gone out?

Judy: Yes, and I'm very worried about her. There's something on her mind and she's not telling me what it is.

Helen: Don't worry Jude, she'll tell you in her good time if it's anything serious.

Judy: But we always tell each other everything. No, I think there's really something wrong.

Merle comes running in, almost knocking the table over.

Judy: Careful Merle. Do you have to come in like a bull in a china shop?

Merle: Sorry Jude. Helen, can you come outside and play soldiers?

Helen: Maybe later Merle.

Merle: Oh, please.

Helen: I'm talking to Judy. Look, you go outside and I'll be out in a bit. Okay?

Merle: Alright, but you'd better or I'll set Captain Marvellous onto you.

Merle goes running out, knocking over a chair as she does. Helen smiles, Judy just shakes her head.

Charlotte knocks on the door of a house. She's about to leave again when a man answers, just wrapped in a towel.

Charlotte: Oh..hi..are you Scott?

Scott: Depends who wants to know.

Charlotte: Amanda Spencer sent me. Apparantly you've got some perfume and stuff for her.

Scott: Amanda ay? Yeah, I've got something for her, but its money up front.

Charlotte hands him the money.

Charlotte: It seems a lot of money for perfume.

Scott hands her the parcel.

Scott: It's not cheap stuff. Now if you tell anyone else about this then I'll find out where you live and burn it down. Got it?

Charlotte nods.

Scott: You know, you're not bad. How would you like to find out what's under my towel?

He strokes her hair as he says this. Charlotte pulls herself away.

Charlotte: No thanks.

Scott: Suit yourself. You don't know what you're missing though.

Charlotte nervously runs off, stuffing the parcel under her coat.

Judy and Helen are still sat at the table, now drinking tea. Merle comes running in all flustered.

Judy: What's wrong Merle?

Merle: There's a man out there. He tried to grab me but I bammed him.

Helen looks frightened.

Helen: A man? Are you sure? What did he look like?

Merle: He looked horrible. He was fat and bald, and he had funny glasses on.

Judy
(to Helen): Is that him?

Helen nods.

Helen: How the hell did he find me here?

Judy: Has he gone Merle?

Merle: He ran off.

Judy: I think it's time we called the police.

Judy gets up and goes to the phone. Helen stops her.

Helen: No I don't want any police. They'll ask too many questions.

Judy: Helen. This man sounds dangerous. He could have abducted Merle, and next time it could be one of us.

Helen: I don't suppose I've got much choice then. OK phone them. Let's get this bastard.

Charlotte nervously enters reception. Marty is on the desk.

Charlotte: Morning Marty. Is it alright if I go through and see some of the women?

Marty: Sure. I'll get Officer Coates to take you through.

Charlotte: Is Wendy not on duty again this morning?

Marty: No, she hasn't phoned in again either. I'm just here till Sally gets in.

Charlotte: That's very strange. I wonder what's happened to her.

Just then Rodney comes in looking a bit worse for wear. He signs the book. Officer Coates comes in and takes Charlotte off. Rodney is about to go into the prison without talking to Marty. Marty calls him back.

Rodney: What do you want, mummy's boy?

Marty: The governor wants to see you.

Rodney
(sarcastically): I'd better not keep her waiting then had I?

Marty: You know Adams. I actually feel sorry for you. If you weren't such a moron then you might actually stand a chance of getting promoted.

Rodney: If I had relatives in high places then I'd stand an even better chance.

Marty: Oh give it a rest Rodney, you're getting really tedious now.

Rodney: Yeah, well you can go to hell. That goes for you, that bitch of a mother of yours, and that Walsh cretin.

Rodney hasn't noticed Meg and Janet walk into reception as he says this. He turns round and they are both stood there with faces like thunder.

Janet: Adams. My office. Now!

Rodney looks sheepish.

Charlotte finds Amanda doing a laundry pick-up and hands her the parcel.

Amanda: You've opened it. Don't you trust me then?

Charlotte: In a word, no. I had to check it was only perfume and not drugs.

Amanda: Well now you know.

Charlotte: OK I've kept my end of the deal. That's the last time I'm bringing anything in.

Amanda: Oh I wouldn't say that. Jude would be most upset if she found out you were having it off with a crim behind her back.

Charlotte: Look, I've done what you asked. I'll tell Judy myself rather than go through all that again.

Amanda: Yeah you probably would too. Still, I don't think you'd like to spend time in here yourself as a prisoner.

Charlotte: What do you mean?

Amanda: Well, your fingerprints will be all over these bottles now. I might just keep one as a memento.

Charlotte: Please, I can't.

Amanda: You don't have a choice lady. You're in it up to your neck now so you might as well just accept it. I'll let you know when the next pick-up is.

Amanda goes off with the trolley, leaving Charlotte looking very worried.

Amanda wheels the trolley into her cell and closes the door. She tips the bottles of perfume and bars of soap on the bed. Then she sniggers to herself and unscrews a fake bottom from one of the bottles. Out falls a bag of white powder. Cindy comes in at this point.

Amanda: Bloody hell don't do that to me, I haven't had chance to hide this yet. Now keep nit while I do.

Cindy picks up a bag of powder.

Cindy: Hey this looks good stuff.

Amanda
(grabbing it off her): Just do as I say and keep nit.

Amanda removes all the drugs and, making sure Cindy isn't looking, hides them in a hollow bottom she has made in her talc bottle. The remaining perfume and soap she puts in the bottom of the laundry trolley.

Cindy: Are you throwing that stuff away?

Amanda: No. You're going to sell it for me.

Cindy: What, now?

Amanda: No time like the present, and be careful who you try to sell it to.

Cindy: No worries. Won't I be missed in the laundry though?

Amanda: Don't worry, I'll tell them you begged me to take the trolley. Now make sure you get rid of all that stuff, and no credit, understand?

Cindy: Sure, I'll sell it easy. What about the dope?

Amanda: Take the orders and tell them they can have it after dinner in my cell. We'll have to make sure Kath isn't around though.

Cindy: When do I get my cut?

Amanda: When you've done your job, and not before. Now don't let me down.

Cindy: Sure.

Cindy goes off with the trolley. Amanda watches her for a minute then goes off back to the laundry.

In the laundry, Su, Chrissie and Kath are moaning about Cindy disappearing when Amanda walks in.

Chrissie: I thought you were getting the dirty sheets.

Amanda: That Simpson bitch came and took it off me. Said she wanted to get away from the scum in here.

Su: Oh did she now. I'll be having a few words with her later. I've got enough to worry about without a dumb little kid with a chip on her shoulder giving me grief.

Amanda: Oh well, at least she's out of our hair for a while.

Kath: She's a fool to herself that one. She only had a couple of weeks to serve when she first got in here. Now she's facing years, just because she won't knuckle down and accept things.

Su: Well if she's not careful she'll be in and out of here for the rest of her life.

Janet's new office is slightly bigger than the old governor's office. Rodney is in there being given a dressing down. Meg is present.

Janet: I am disgusted by what I just witnessed in reception, and I can't afford to have my officers acting so unprofessionally.

Rodney: Yes governor. I'm very sorry, I was provoked. It won't happen again, if you'd just make me up to senior officer then I'll show you what I can do.

Janet: You really have got a nerve Mr. Adams. Do you really think you can disrespect myself and Mrs. Morris to all and sundry and receive a promotion as a reward?

Meg: Have you got an explanation why you left before the end of your shift yesterday Rodney?

Janet: What's this?

Meg: Oh I was going to let you know. Mr. Adams stormed out after the meeting yesterday.

Janet: I see.

Rodney: I'm very sorry Miss Walsh. I was upset and I didn't want the women seeing me like that.

Meg: You should have asked if you wished to leave early.

Janet: Well this is the last straw I'm afraid. I don't think you're suited to the prison service Mr. Adams.

Rodney
(to Meg): You just had to tell on me didn't you? You're as much a suck as that son of yours.

Janet
(shouts): Mr. Adams, that will be quite enough. I will not have my governors being spoken to in that manner by a junior officer. I've got no choice but to dismiss you.

Rodney: Yeah well you can stick your job you stuck up bitch.

Janet: Mrs. Morris, escort this person out of here right now.

Meg: yes. Come on Rodney.

Rodney: Don't worry I'm going. I don't need an escort. Good bloody riddance.

Rodney storms out, slamming the door behind him. Meg and Janet look at each other in disbelief.

Janet: Well really. What an extraordinary performance.

Meg: Yes. I'd better make sure he leaves the premises. God knows what he'll do now he's got nothing to lose.

Rodney has gone back into the prison and he calls Amanda out of the laundry.

Rodney: Thanks to you I've just lost my job.

Amanda: What? Why?

Rodney: I lost it in front of Walsh and she sacked me, I'm dead now because of you. If you hadn't lost that money I wouldn't be in such a mess.

Amanda: I can hardly be blamed because you couldn't keep your cool in front of the governor.

Rodney: Listen you bitch, I've got nothing to lose now. I might as well go in there and tell all the women that you're the lagger.

Amanda: Well I haven't got the money any more.

Rodney: You've got some money though. I know you've got drugs into the prison.

Amanda: Yeah, but I haven't had time to sell me any of them yet.

Rodney: You're a liar.

Meg turns up at this point.

Meg: Mr. Adams. You are to leave the prison immediately, or you'll have to be removed by force.

Rodney: Oh what's the point. The whole lot of you can go to hell.

Rodney goes off, and Amanda shouts goodbye to him, before chuckling and going back into the laundry.

Kath: What did that creep want?

Amanda: He just tried it on with me didn't he.

Su: That bastard. Right, he's not getting away with it this time.

Amanda: No wait. Mrs. Morris caught him and he's just been hauled off to the governor. I don't think he'll be our problem any longer.

The women start cheering.

Rodney is being led out of reception by Meg. Pat Slattery is there and Rodney starts having a go at her for getting the deputy governor's job.

Meg: Rodney. That will be enough!

Rodney: It must be nice to be so popular with the authorities.

With that he leaves.

Pat: What was all that about?

Meg: I'll tell you later. Sorry about that, but he won't be our problem any longer.

Judy has just closed the door to the police and goes to comfort Helen.

Judy: Don't worry Helen. They said they'd keep an eye on the place.

Helen: Oh come off it Jude, they can't watch me 24 hours a day. I'm really scared you know.

Judy: Yeah I know love, but you've got to try and think positive.

Meg arrives home and Tristian introduces her to his son, Adrian. He is a very well-mannered young man and Meg seems quite impressed by him. Marty comes home and shows Adrian to his room. Adrian seems fixated with Marty.

Rodney gets back to his flat and immediately opens a can of beer out of the fridge.

It's a few days later. The first minibus arrives with prisoners for the new J-Block. Les Murray is waiting outside with another male officer (Officer Hedges). The women step outside, one at a time. The first four are all tough looking women, then a nervous looking woman in her late twenties follows, closely followed by one Joan Ferguson! Joan looks quite pleased to be back at Wentworth. Les introduces himself in a sergeant-major type fashion, and then instructs them all to go off with Officer Hedges. As they are walking off, another minibus pulls up. The first prisoner to step out is ex-crime boss wife, Ruth Ballinger! She glances over and spots Ferguson walking into the new building. Ruth gives an evil smile, Joan hasn't seen her though.

The women are placed in their cells by Officer Hedges. The cells are quite large, with bunk beds. They also have a portable TV as the women will be spending most of their time in their cells. Joan is put in with the nervous looking woman, then the door is shut behind them. The woman, who is called Laura Roberts, throws her arms around Joan and says: "Thank God we're together!". Joan kisses her head and holds her close.

Ruth is in her cell smoking a fag. Suddenly the door opens and Officer Hedges appears.

Officer Hedges: I've got a roommate for you.

Ruth: Oh, but I do love my privacy.

Officer Hedges: Sorry, governor's orders.

He brings Roo Morgan in. Roo sees Ruth and shouts: "You're not putting me in with that bitch!"

Officer: You'll go where you're put Morgan.
He winks at Ruth and then goes, locking the door behind him.

Ruth: Don't worry. I don't bear any grudges about the bashing you lot gave me at Blackmoor.

Roo: Yeah right.

Ruth: Seriously. Although I do expect one small favour in return.

Roo: I'm not doing nothing for you.

Ruth: You're going to help me make Ferguson pay for what she did to me.

Roo: I told you I'm not doing nothin'.

Ruth: I'm sure I can convince you to change your mind.

Ruth pulls out a gun as she says this.

Joan and Laura are lying on the bottom bunk together talking.

Laura: I'm so scared Joan. What if word gets to the women here about what we've done.

Joan: Don't worry Laura. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise you.

Laura: But we lagged on several of the women. They're not going to let that lie.

Joan: But we had to stop the riot. A lot of people could have been killed.

Laura: I know we had to do it, I'm just scared they'll come after us somehow.

Joan: I've already promised no harm will come to you, and I always keep my promises!

Laura: Oh I'm so glad I've got you Joan. I love you.

Joan: I love you too Laura.

Rodney is lying on his sofa, surrounded by empty beer cans when there is a knock at the door. Rodney staggers to open it, and Vic Lester is stood there with 2 heavies behind him.

Vic: Well you're a tough man to get hold of. I've been trying to contact you for days.

Rodney: Sorry, I haven't been well. I lost my job last week and things have been building up.

Vic: Well I am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately though, Business is business and we need to collect a payment from you now.

Rodney: But I haven't got it. I can get it though, just give me a couple of days.

Vic: Sorry Rodney. I need a grand off you today.

Rodney: A grand! But that's a quarter of what I owe.

Vic: Actually that's about a tenth of what you owe, if you were to pay me the full amount now.

Rodney: But that's daylight robbery.

Vic: That's rising interest rates for you. Now let me have a grand and I'll be on my way.

Rodney: I can't. I'm sorry, you'll have to come back in a few days.

Vic: Not good enough.

One of the heavies grabs Rodney's right hand and forces it face down on the table and forces his fingers apart. The other one produces a hammer.

Vic: This is your last chance to cough up.

Rodney: I can't. Please don't hurt me, I can get it I just need more time.

Vic nods his head to the heavy, and the hammer is raised back and then slammed down...... We hear Rodney scream.

Adrian looks over to Marty, asleep in his bed. He gets out of bed and climbs in with Marty, putting his arm around him. Marty doesn't wake up. Just then, Meg knocks on the door and comes in with 2 cups of coffee. She drops them in shock when she sees the two of them in bed together. Marty wakes up at this point, and it is difficult to see who is the most shocked.................................................
