During the height of Prisoner's popularity in Australia when the series was first aired, a number of members from the cast were asked to take part in a one-off televised concert for fans - some of which were in the audience and the rest will have no doubt watched the event on television back home.
The stars in question were: Val Lehman (Bea), Betty Bobbitt (Judy), Colette Mann (Doreen), Sheila Florance (Lizzie), Jane Clifton (Margo), Patsy King (Erica) and Gerard Maguire (Jim).
It has to be said that a very camp performance followed - the show itself started off with an interesting performance of Y.M.C.A. complete with a very flamboyant set of costumes... this continued throughout the show!
The stars nowadays will no doubt cringe at the concert, indeed Jane Clifton has recently said that if it's ever shown on television she'll be leaving town! However, it's something which the majority of Prisoner fans outside of Australia have never seen before.
We managed to find a very poor quality VHS copy of the show and have done a few screenshots of it for your enjoyment. We doubt if there are any plans that the concert will ever be commercially released onto DVD - this was once attempted some time ago but due to copyright clearances it never happened.
To spare the actors any further embarrassment, we won't be providing any video or audio clips - nor will any copies of the video be made. This is simply to show the fans how popular the series was when it was originally aired.
