Last Ep: 536
Total Featured: 11 episodes
Work Area: Laundry
Crime: Refusal to pay fine
Sentence: 6 weeks
Close to: Myra Desmond, Joan Ferguson
Current Status: Released

Arrested at a nuclear disarmament ralley, Sister Anita Selby is a nun who has 'broken the mould' with her opinions and frowned upon by the church. She asks for no special treatment during her stay and also requests to share with Lou Kelly.

Myra recognises Anita but they agree to keep her identity secret, although when Frank Burke forces himself on Anita she has no option than to reveal that she's a nun when he spots the crucifix hanging from her necklace. Myra explains to Anita about the lagging rule but promises to get Frank back for what he has done.

Lou rips all of the pages out from Anita's bible (episode 527) and continues to antagonise her to try and get her to react. She slaps Anita across the face hard twice and taunts Anita to fight back but she refuses, causing a confused Lou to leave the room. Lou does however manage to get a reaction from Anita when she suggests that she is a lesbian (episode 528) - Anita raises her hand to hit Lou but backs down.

She makes an unlikely friend in Joan Ferguson who confides in her about her personal problems.

When Joan is struck on the head and begins to have blackouts as a result of her injury, the other women see this as a chance to frame her once and for all. Anita disagrees with using Joan like this but the women go ahead and set her up to look like she's attacked Lou Kelly. The plan seems to work, until it is discovered that Joan has a blood clot on the brain and has to undergo critical surgery. Anita tells Ann the whole story (episode 535).

Myra takes the blame and Ann refuses to recognise her as Top Dog anymore. The women are furious with Anita and even when she tries to explain things to them on her release (episode 536), they can't forgive her for lagging.

Anita visits Joan in hospital after her operation and asks her to try helping the women rather than fight with them.
