Deidre Kean DEIDRE KEAN
Played by: Anne Charleston

First Ep: 464
Last Ep: 493
Total Featured: 16 episodes
Close To: Reb Kean
Current Status: Assumingly still in Australia

Reb Kean’s mother. She first appears in episode 464, to persuade Reb to visit her dying father who is suffering from multiple sclerosis.

After Reb is attacked by Marie Winter, Deidre visits her in hospital, with the news that her father has left her all his money in episode 474. Reb uses the fact that that Deidre has spent all her money due to gambling debts to force her into helping her escape from hospital. They stay in their holiday home, but Deidre worries that Reb might become seriously ill without the proper treatment. She worries so much, she tells the police where she is, but ends up in Wentworth with Reb in episode 479. After this, Reb immediately decides to cut herself off from her mother.

Whilst in prison, Lou Kelly and Alice Jenkins bully Deidre, and Reb decides to join them when she pushes her face into her food in episode 481. Deidre is badly beaten by some of the women in episode 483, which prompts Reb to make up with her.

Eventually, Deidre’s bail is paid and she is released in episode 484. After this, she visits Reb on numerous occasions, such as when Lou Kelly escapes in episode 491 and seeks refuge at her house. Deidre gets hold of Lou’s shotgun whilst she’s sleeping and threatens to shoot her. In the following episode, she does so in her right shoulder.

Her last appearance is in episode 493, when she visits Reb to tell her about Lou’s escape. We never hear of Deidre after this, but we are left to assume that she is still living in Australia.
