Franky DoyleFRANKY DOYLE
Played by Carol Burns

Only in the series for a short time, Franky makes a huge impact on Prisoner. She has the privilege of saying the first line in episode 1: "She bumped into me".

Illiterate until teacher Karen Travers arrives, Franky's main concern was to start trouble wherever she is. Franky falls in love with Karen during their time spent together learning. Karen isn't interested in Franky's sexual advances towards her but really wants to help her learn to read and write properly.

Franky's brother Gary is killed during a farm accident and it's up to Karen to read the telegram sent to Franky advising of the bad news. Franky doesn't take this well, and escapes with Doreen. They even dress up as nuns at one point, but in episode 20 Franky is shot dead by a policeman whilst on the run. Franky was the first in a long line of rivals for Bea Smith's authority and the only one for whom we felt any sympathy in defeat.
