KATH MAXWELL Played by Kate Hood
Friend of officer Bob Moran, housewife Kath Maxwell ends up inside Wentworth after killing her daughter Linda who was severely disabled due to her husband's exposure to defoliants during his time fighting in the Vietnam war.
Bob and Kath decide to keep their friendship to themselves when Kath is first brought in as a prisoner, however the other women soon find out and Bob later leaves.
The women do not take nicely to Kath because of her crime. She makes things worse for herself by not feeling sorry for what she has done - she believes that she ended her daughter's suffering but it takes the other women a long time to take her seriously and think of her as one of them.
Because Kath doesn't have too many friends inside she gets involved in drug dealing, during this time she meets Merle Jones. They build up a strong friendship together.
Kath is sentenced to life imprisonment in episode 687. She is later nominated as the new top dog by Rita Connors, and is indeed the last ever top dog of the series.
